Nuzzling into his neck, she whispered the words that she had known and held close to herself for so long, words she was planning on keeping to herself until the end of time. Except they were bubbling out, and she couldn’t stop them.

Pulling back, he looked into her eyes in question. “What did you say?”

“I already love you, Jonas,” she said the words again, this time with more conviction. Instantly, he crushed her to him for a kiss, a deep kiss that she returned with the same passion as he was putting into it.

When he pulled away, he touched her cheek. “I have missed you so much. I should have come back for you the day I walked away from here.”

“Why didn’t you?”

“Fear.”

“Of my sisters?” she questioned, wondering what he had gone through to get to her room.

The smile that came to his lips made her heart melt. “No, I’d fight every one of them for you, to see you. I was afraid you didn’t feel what I was feeling. That I was just a story for you.”

“You stopped being a story before I left that closet, Jonas. At that moment, I wanted you at any cost: My dignity as a reporter. My job as a reporter. My family, because Sera was going to kill me for finding you after she had forbidden it. And I lost everything except my family. That grew because of you, in more ways than one.”

“Our family from now on.” He kissed her cheek. “I know you said you weren’t reporting anymore, but if you want to, you can. You can do anything you want to.”

“I wasn’t very good at it,” she admitted, hating to say it.

“I read everything you’d ever written. You just never got the chance to show them how good you were. Maybe another paper will give you that chance. I don’t want you to give up your dream because of a story about me turning bad.” His hands were inching up her skin under her shirt. It was distracting.

“I don’t. Not ever. I don’t know what I want to do, but I don’t want to go back,” she said, leaning into his body. “I don’t want to work for Kaine anymore either. I just want to focus on you and our baby for a while.”

“Then don’t. Do whatever you want. But I do want you to live with me and be a part of my life, to be my life.” He kissed her gently.

There was nothing left to do but let him kiss her, and kiss him she did until he took over. Laying her on the bed his magical fingers started working her body over just like they had the first time. Only this time was better because this time, she knew him, loved him, and knew he loved her just as much.

This time there was nothing hiding in the closet.
