“I can make that work.” She smiled for the first time.

“Anything else?”

“Should I keep calling you Mr. Montgomery in the office or Leo? I want to stay working until I can’t anymore,” she said, surprising him. He had forgotten he would need a new secretary now.

“Leo, please. When did you want to move in?” The questions were suddenly never-ending, and he was enjoying his time with her.

She looked thoughtful. “After the wedding. No need to jump the gun.”

“When do you want me to meet your family? I would like you to meet the girls soon, or at least all the girls together since you’ve met them all but Alexis recently. And I don’t know if Aubrey even remembers you,” he admitted. Aubrey hadn’t said anything about her new friend since that night, it seemed she might have been too drunk to even remember Lucy.

“I don’t know. I could be available this week sometime to meet the kids.” She was tapping again, very quickly.

“How about tomorrow?” Leo suppressed a laugh as he straightened his tie. This plan was working out perfectly. His heartrate increased as he realized he was getting the wife he wanted sooner than he’d expected. Suddenly he was far more nervous about the entire situation. Now he wasn’t going to marry some faceless woman, he was marrying Lucy. He didn’t want to mess this up with Lucy.

“Then you’re spending the night, and you can meet them the awkward Lovely way: the morning after. It works best, and they’ll be completely into finding a man in the house. And then they’ll buy that we’re in love and getting married.” She bit her lip as if she was starting to doubt it would work.

“How many live in the house?” he asked. It wasn’t his favorite plan, even if it involved a night with his new fiancé.

“Just Agatha, but the morning will bring everyone home for breakfast. It’s tradition,” she rubbed the back of her neck as her eyes darted around the room.

“Agatha?” Leaning towards her, he hoped she wasn’t having second thoughts.

“My sister. Meet you at my place tonight, around 10 p.m.?”

“Sure, that will be perfect.” Well, not perfect. Perfect would be at his place.

But this was her plan, so he would go along with it. He just hoped it turned out like she was planning.
