Leo glanced over that way as well. None of these Lovely sisters interested him, even if they were talking with the bartender like they knew him well. Which they probably did if this was their favorite bar.

Harper walked over, carrying a wine cooler and gave him an even cooler look. She hadn’t forgotten what he had told her about fighting with Lucy, but he knew one day, she would feel guilty about what happened yesterday. Once she knew about the pregnancy.

“Really, Cliff, no shirts,” Harper criticized the man as well.

Cliff grinned at her. “Take off that cute sweater, Blondie.”

“You would like that, wouldn’t you?” Harper hissed at him.

“Nope, I have seen your tits, woman.” He shrugged. “And her tits.” He pointed at Bea and Sera as one. “Mom’s too. Wait one minute, I have seen all their tits. I did take home my favorite ones, so you all can be jealous.”

“Ten bucks says you haven’t seen Agatha’s!” Harper didn’t even care he just said he had seen hers.

Cliff laughed and reached in his pocket and pulled out a twenty-dollar bill. He tossed it to her. “I have never seen Agatha’s. I will get that back when I do.”

The group laughed, the snarky woman on the third floor was a bit different than all the others, but Lucy wasn’t the only one with a past in the family. But none of them let other’s opinions bother them.

“Nick is setting up karaoke for us. He loves Lucy! Has forever,” Sera said, not caring that he was there. It seemed the filter was off.

“Cliff says that he’s seen your boobs, Sera.” Harrison pulled her onto his lap.

“I am sure he has. That fool almost lived at the house for a year. And a fucking billionaire! I should demand you pay rent. You owe me big time.” She pointed at Cliff.

Cliff leaned toward her. “I owe you nothing, woman. You need thicker walls or a blow dryer that doesn’t sound like a Boeing 747 at six a.m.! Fuck, that thing could wake the dead.”

“Hey, Cliff, news flash! I had to get ready for work,” Sera said as if it were still happening.

“I needed my beauty rest!” Cliff countered.

“You were hung over, both of you were. But at least Lucy would get up in the morning. You slinking out of her room and hogging the bathroom was super annoying!” Sera folded her arms.

From a man who had not that long ago said he and Lucy hadn’t been together ever, it sure sounded like they slept together a lot. “Best friends” was sounding more like friends with benefits to Leo. It was starting to piss him off.

Somehow, he had thought it would just be a few drinks with Lucy’s friend, but he was in for a night with her family. A wild night for a Tuesday.

The waitress came around with more drinks and got more orders. Oddly, their table still only had six chairs around it, but the wives were happy on their spouse’s laps. As conversations flowed around the table in all directions, no subject was off-limits it seemed.

His eyes were on the door, waiting for Lucy. When she entered, he knew it was her. Not because of anything she said or did, but because he just knew.

Before the last of her sisters followed her into the bar, the wedding march started to play throughout the entire bar, making her turn to the bartender with a middle finger and a grin. Seeing the crowd at the table, she stopped and shook her head. Both Mabel and Agatha beat her to the group. Mabel settled on Cliff’s lap while Agatha grabbed a chair after trying to push Bea off Jonas’s lap with a laugh.

To his surprise, Lucy walked over to him and did what everyone was doing and sat down right on his lap, like he had been hoping. His arms went around her like they did it every day. In his mind, he hoped they one day would.

“Sorry about this,” she whispered in his ear.

“I might be enjoying it,” he admitted. His hand slid under her sweatshirt; it was white today with nothing written on it. His hands encountered a T-shirt, so he didn’t get to touch her skin.

“Congratulations, you too,” Harper said, even though he could tell she didn’t mean it.

“Thanks, Harper,” Lucy replied with her fake smile. Her fingers began tapping on his leg.

“Sorry I can’t make anything for the wedding. I haven’t ordered enough food.”

“That’s okay. I didn’t expect you to do it for me.” Lucy’s fingers stilled, followed by her entire body. He pulled her closer, hoping she knew he was there for her.

“It’s nothing personal,” Harper stated.

“I know, it’s me.” Lucy remained still as Harper turned to say something sarcastic to Bea on the other side of her.
