“Da. What else?” She didn’t even flinch. If she saw it as a reprimand, she didn’t let on.

“No one knows where our compound is.” I gave her a pointed look, letting her draw the necessary conclusions.

She waved me off. “Easily resolved. I got here on my own. Let me take bike back to Bane, and you can send cage after me. I can fill Thorn in, we can look for third guy, you can blindfold me when you take me back. Might even come back heavy one captive.”

“You can call Thorn from here. You leave your phone here and my tech people scan you for bugs. And you’re blindfolded from here to the compound.”

Normally, her coming back with us would be a nonstarter, but two things swayed me. First, she’d saved Lemon from more of a beating than she’d taken as it was. Second… well. I’d address the second later. Venus wasn’t ready, I hadn’t discussed it with Lemon yet, and I wasn’t entirely sure I wanted to address the second reason I was allowing her a way into our compound.

Venus didn’t even flinch. “Deal.” She stuck out her hand, expecting me to shake it. I did, but didn’t let go of Lemon.

That was when three members of Grim Road entered the cabin. Bear was first, followed by Knox and Piston. To say the tiny shack was overcrowded was an understatement.

Bear’s gaze went to the two men on the floor before moving to Lemon. “Looks like you took care of things with your usual finesse, Lemon.”

Lemon shrugged. “See me, love me, motherfucker.”

Venus snorted out a laugh before putting a hand on Lemon’s shoulder. “You will be fine. Little sister for me and Millie.”

“What’er we doin’ with that lot?” Piston asked. “Not much left of ‘em. We gettin’ rid of ‘em here?”

“No.” I shook my head, finally able to let Lemon push away from me, but only because I knew she’d never forgive me if I let the other men see her as anything less than an officer in Grim Road.

“We’re takin’ ‘em back to the compound,” Lemon answered. “Venus is coming with us, so I need you to have Byte come here with whatever he needs to scan her for tracking devices.”

“You got it.” Bear nodded, taking out his phone and making the call as he stepped outside.

“You want a cage to take them back to the compound?” Knox indicated the two men on the floor.

“Yep.” I nodded to Venus. “She can ride with you, though she’ll need to be blindfolded.”

“No.” Piston moved and indicated Knox should go. “Get the cage, but that one rides with me.”

“Not sure it’s safe for her to ride blindfolded, even if she ain’t drivin’.” I frowned. What was he playing at?”

“She won’t be. Claimin’ that one. I’ll discuss her patchin’ in once we get all this other shit figured out.”

Venus laughed. “Taking much for granted, are you not?”

Piston leveled a look on her that brooked no argument. “No.”

“Have you said more than two words to her?” Lemon stepped closer to Piston.

“Nope. Don’t change nothin’. She’s still mine.”

“Well, all right then.” Lemon gave Venus a cheeky grin. Even with her face all swollen I could tell she was enjoying this.

Venus looked less than thrilled but wasn’t balking. Likely, she thought she’d get a free look inside our compound before she blazed. Piston was the one who surprised me. The man wasn’t playing. This was happening whether Venus realized it or not.

Chapter Eight

Lemon

The ride back to the clubhouse was painful. Rocket was right. I needed to stop doing this. Which meant I needed to learn self-control. Yeah. I’d have better luck winning the fucking lottery.

We pulled into the compound and up to the clubhouse front door. “Feels like deja vu,” I muttered.

“What?” Rocket looked over his shoulder at me while the others pulled up and parked. “You walking into the clubhouse with blood all over you? Or sporting a swollen face?”
