“Yes,” I pant, my hips already starting to rut into her, past the point of holding still while her walls squeeze my dick.

Christ, she feels so good. It’s been too fucking long. I must be insane to have stayed away this long.

“You had better be wearing a condom there.” Her voice cuts through my euphoria and it takes a while to process what she said.

“Excuse me?”

“I’m pretty sure you heard me, Ryan.”

“No, I don’t think I did.”

“Are you wearing a condom?”

I huff out a laugh. “You tell me. Does it feel like I’m wearing one?” I pull out partway and slam back inside her to emphasize my point.

Her eyes roll back and she moans. Still, she says. “I’m serious Ryan go put it on.”

“Are you kidding me? What am I going to do, knock you up twice?”

“Well…actually, about that...” She trails off.

And that’s how I know.

“Oh my fucking days. You’re not pregnant, are you?”

“Not technically…I mean… not yet.”

“You. Little. Liar.” I withdraw and step away from her as if she’s on fire then shove my still-hard cock into my jeans.

She straightens and comes toward me while I hold up a hand to ward her off.

“Ryan wait, in all fairness…”

I don’t want to hear it. I turn away from her. For the second time, I stride toward the elevators. But, this time, with far less grace. I’m rock hard, and my balls ache.

Why are you so angry? Because she lied or because you’re not going to be a father after all?

I slap the call button repeatedly, in a bid to shut off the taunting voice in my head.

Although if I’m being honest a part of me knew she wasn’t pregnant. All the clues were there.

She’d been eager to get married, desperate almost. And I told her in no uncertain terms that the only condition under which that could happen was if she wound up pregnant. And she did.

But it’s been two months since then, and she didn’t say anything to stop me from thinking… hoping…that it might be true.

With a vicious shake of my head, I dispel those thoughts and step into the elevator.

Once in the penthouse, I head straight to my office, pour myself a scotch and drop into my chair. And fight the urge to turn on the security feed to the parking garage to see that she’s made it inside and she’s okay.

I down the drink and relish the burn all the way to my stomach. If only that were a path of fire burning away the forbidden emotions roiling in my belly.

I never let myself feel anything for a woman except for detached amusement. I don’t remember ever being this angry. Or aroused. Or wanting to look after someone this bad.

I hear a hesitant knock. “Ryan?”

When I don’t respond, she pushes the door open and steps in. She takes in the room then her eyes come to rest on me while mine helplessly move over her.

She’s changed from her dress into a plain thin shirt and shorts. Her blonde waves are artfully tousled. She looks like the sin I’d very much like to indulge in. And a sinner needing to be punished.
