“Would it be weird if I said it was part of escort training?”

Jeron paused. “That makes sense. They told you what to say?”

“No, they guided us on speaking the truth but how to say it. Male actives are volatile, as you may know.”

“I am familiar with that situation. I was one.”

“Ah. Well, you seem calm now. Well, most of you is calm. Some parts are a little excited.” She looked up at him, amused.

“What else was involved in your training?”

“A little of this, a little of that. Since we have never had unlimited time and privacy, I haven’t been able to cut loose.”

“What does cutting loose entail?”

She pushed him to his back and straddled him. Her energy was tingling through her body. “A little of this and a little of that.”

His eyes widened. His tattoos flared, and she inhaled at the effect that the light under his skin was having on her equilibrium. He smiled. “It seems like you have gotten some of your activation back.”

“Well, you are still pinned, so yeah. Looks like it.”

He grinned and put his hands on her waist, pulling her down for a kiss. When their tongues were duelling and she was moving against him, he took her hands, wove his fingers with hers, and kept a grip on her.

Xeva was circling her hips against him when the door slid open, and Stone was standing there. “Jeron!”

Xeva gasped and tried to roll off, but Jeron held her with her hands in his.

Stone laughed as Jeron sat up and tried to soothe Xeva’s panic. He gave her small kisses, and her breathing slowed until power stopped surging through her limbs. She exhaled and shuddered before she drooped. “Fuck, that was close.”

Jeron slowly let go of her hands and stroked her back. “You okay?”

“Yeah.”

Stone smirked. “I see I interrupted something.”

Xeva looked at Jeron. “Do the interruptions happen often?”

“Yes, but that is going to stop tonight.”

Stone laughed. “Don’t worry about me. I am over eighteen.”

Xeva looked at him. “You know the Horseman’s lance?”

“Yeah.”

“It’s seventeen feet long.”

“So?”

“You are sixteen feet away. Jeron was holding my hands. Think about that.”

Stone blinked. “Oh. Right. Knocking will be announced today then.”

Xeva nodded. “Please.”

Jeron murmured against her ear, “This is the price of a lot of family. Privacy is out the window.”

She muttered back, “I nearly jumped out the window.”
