Xeva nodded. “Very.”

Ysma took another appetizer and nibbled at it. Yukaro was looking at her without looking at her. Xeva took Jeron’s hand and held it, hoping that she hadn’t fucked up too badly. “So, what spurs on the other tattoos? Family has your back. What are the ones I have been chewing on?”

Ysma smiled.

Yukaro said, “If you are talking about the chest pieces, they are usually marks of heroism or service. For women, it includes marks of childbirth.”

Xeva smiled. “Or marks of heroism?”

“Both have equal weight. If a male could have a child, I am fairly sure he would want it front and centre.” Yukaro smiled.

Jeron nodded. “I know I would.”

Xeva chuckled. He sounded like he genuinely would. Their main courses arrived, and it was time to focus on food.

Chapter Six

Ysma kept her elbows in and efficiently went through her selections. She paused now and then to enjoy a new flavour but quickly finished her food and put her hands on her lap.

Xeva finished a minute later.

They looked at each other and smiled. Ysma closed her eyes, checked the vision, and winced. She wasn’t alone on her flight to the island anymore. Fuck.

She listened to Xeva explaining the food consumption to her mate. They had six minutes to eat, or the food was removed. The lab taught them to eat fast.

“Yukaro, when did you decide to come here today?”

He glanced at her. “This morning. Why?”

“Because I looked at my future this morning, and you weren’t in it.”

He smiled and took a few more bites before he said, “That is because now that the crown princess is a seer, she is shielding us from casual scrying.”

She sighed. “Of course. Well, there is a killing wave on the way to your island. Because I am going to be carrying you.”

He froze. “You are kidding.”

“I don’t kid. Now, you have enough time to finish lunch, and I hope you don’t get airsick. I can have you home in an hour. I do hope you don’t get queasy.”

Yukaro stared at her. “You are going to fly me?”

“Do you fly?”

“No. I am half Hyreno. I swim.”

“Oh. Well, if you want to be there in sixty minutes, I can fly you. Or you can be transported by Jeron.” She closed her eyes, and the image of her flying him didn’t change. “Make the flying time seventy-five minutes. You are heavy.”

Jeron stiffened. “I need to prep the island. Ysma, is it coming toward us?”

“Not if I can knock it down.”

Yukaro frowned. “Knock it down?”

“Yeah, you will see.”

He nodded. “I look forward to it. Do we have time for dessert?”

“How much do you weigh?”
