Xeva looked at him. “How many other secrets are there on the island?”
“Oh, honey, I look forward to showing you.” He grinned.
She kissed him, and he returned the kiss with interest.
The team was dismissed; Zella was still sniffling and glaring at Ysma.
Ysma went and spoke to Remark, and his eyes opened wide. “You know I will have to test it.”
“Sure, but keep in mind that she can use one aspect of the activity of the body she is in. She might try and make a run for it.” She nodded then turned and walked away from the vessel.
Jeron opened his arms and wrapped them around her as the team shuttle lifted off, and Zella was taken away.
Xeva mumbled, “Can we start the happily ever after now?”
He laughed. “If you look past me, you can see we already have.”
She looked and saw her family and his talking, smiling, and little ones sprinting around. “More reasons to protect the island. Good reasons.”
“The best.” He smiled. “So, you think my brother is after your niece?”
“Yup. He gets all dreamy-faced when he looks at her. When one of the team members came close to her, he got in between like a pro.”
“Well, Mom wants him to finish his education over at Yukaro’s.”
“What is he studying?”
“Marine biology and sea animal husbandry.”
“Interesting.”
“Yeah, like Yukaro, Stone has gills. They work with Hyreno researchers around the reefs.”
Jeron looked down at her. “So, when would you like the official ceremony?”
“Uh, sooner rather than later?”
“Fine, we will ask my mother to file the documents.”
“What?”
“Oh, Revakka is the head of the island. We have a matriarchal society. Ysma is going to have to learn how to run an island as well as a household.”
“Oh, wow.”
“You, too, cougar. You have some learning to do.”
“Aw, come on. I just got my horse back.”
“Sorry. Learning how to run the island is the price of keeping me as your boy toy.” He grinned. “Leaf already knows all this stuff, and she is choosing healthcare instead.”
Xeva spluttered. “Did you just refer to yourself as a boy toy, skippy?”
He laughed, lifted her, and spun her around.
She was grinning when he set her down. “That was fun.”
He smiled and said, “I am at your disposal.”
