Then, we follow Grizzly in the semi down to Halifax, North Carolina, to meet Whiskey and his Valhalla Heathens crew and offload the plates to them. From there, they drive the cargo to Tennesee and meet with the Piotr's people. This run must happen without any fuck-ups! When the drop-off is done, the Reaper Bastards collect two hundred and twenty grand in cash from Nolan Reynolds. Then we're throwing a clubhouse party to celebrate my kid's birth!"

I and all the members slammed their fists down on the table and shouted, "Reapers Forever! Forever Reapers!"

Heavy told me to stay back so he could talk to me about something as everyone headed out of the clubhouse to climb on our bikes for the long ride.

"Is there something you want to tell me, brother?" he asked, arching a brow.

"Like what, Prez?"

"How about that you ran into Elle Hensley at the Dollhouse last week, and you two finally fucked after all these years?"

I felt my pulse race and my heart pound. "How the fuck did you know that?"

"Elle showed up at the Dollhouse and told me all about it. What's up with you, bro? You've liked that girl since high school, and I've known you since we were stupid kids in grade school. Why don't you talk to her?"

"We fucked, and that's all there is to it."

"So Elle was just another piece of ass?"

"Yeah. Sex with her was great," I said, which was an understatement since I had never felt that good before with any woman. "But I don't want any attachments. I left all that behind after I joined the Marine Corps."

"I know you loved Elle for years. And she loves you. Why don't you claim her as yours?"

"Because she deserves so much more than anything I can ever give her!" I barked. "That's why I let her go before I joined the Marine Corps. The Reaper Bastards MC is my home, and this," I said, pounding a fist to my chest, "is where I belong. The MC is part of me. We are outlaws, brother, and we do bad things. Elle cannot be part of this life that I chose because it's too fucking dangerous."

Heavy shook his head and said, "Bagger and I could see that Elle is a grown-ass woman. I didn't even recognize her and thought she was some new chick that wanted to audition as a dancer at the Dollhouse."

For a split second, I almost shot out of my chair to punch Heavy in the face. I'm sure he and Bagger thought about fucking Elle like some clubwhore before they knew who she was.

"What are you getting at, Heavy?" I asked, not calling him Prez since, at that point, my blood was boiling with all the fucking interrogation.

"What I'm getting at is Elle can make her own damn decisions. I'm the biggest. No. I'm the king asshole in all of D-M-V!"

"I'm not going to argue with you on that!" I said and chuckled.

"My old lady, Dani, knows I'm an outlaw. She made the choice to come back into my life even after I got her on a bus to leave town to save her life seven years ago. But I shield her from all the bad shit and keep her safe. That woman helped me get a grip and let go of some of the pent-up resentment I had because of my shitty past. I feel more even-keeled. Then my mom, Sheila, walks back into my life after so many years of not knowing what happened to her. I'll be honest. I'm glad she came back. And now that Dani had my kid, it scares the living shit out of me! I love Dani, Leah, my mother, and I would kill and die for them. You and Elle found each other again after what? Fifteen years? Even our brother, Roadkill, who I would never want to be fuckin' enemies with, followed Lacey down to Myrtle Beach a few months ago because she was everything to him. I'm glad he patched in with our brother club, Blood Eagle MC. Elle is supposed to be your old lady. And if you don't claim her now, then you're giving some douche-bag a chance to make his move and take her from you. You two are meant for each other. It's fate, brother."

The Reaper Bastards made it down to Norfolk, Virginia, earlier than expected, with thirty minutes to spare, with just one stop to piss and top off our gas tanks.

We arrived at the Port, kicked our stands down, and parked the bikes beside Piotr's semi-trailer truck that Grizzly drove. Thanks to Nolan, Grizzly had all the necessary paperwork to get us access to the cargo containing the shrinkwrapped board games and the hidden counterfeit print plates that we planned to transport south of the Virginia border near a town called Halifax in North Carolina. The fake documents were to prove our identity, access to the specific container, clearance papers, and a Bill of Laden. Heavy and I inspected the board games shrinkwrapped on pallets for any damages and counted them. Then, our brothers helped load the cargo into the semi using a pallet jack.

The club followed Grizzly in the semi and drove another two hours south from Norfolk to the border of North Carolina. It was dark, but the headlights on the semi and our bikes showed the way to an open field on some foreclosed property near an exit ramp off Interstate 95. Whiskey and his Valhalla Heathens were there as planned with a van and a Toyota Camry.

We climbed off the bikes, and while our brothers helped load the counterfeit plates into the van, we walked over to talk with Whiskey, who stood with three of his club members.

"Any problems?" Whiskey asked as we both approached.

"Nah, it was uneventful, all things considered," I said.

"Me and my VP are gonna ride with you to drop off those pallets," Heavy said, which surprised me because he hadn't mentioned it at church the night before.

"Not part of the plan," Whiskey replied, stepping up to Heavy, who had a menacing grin.

"Wait, brother," The man standing next to Whiskey interrupted, "let's step away for a minute,"

As Whiskey and his men walked away to discuss this new plan, I looked at Heavy as he crossed my arms over his chest and said low enough so that only I could hear, "Never trust outsiders, especially another MC trying to poach in the Reaper Bastards territory. I don't give a fuck what Piotr and Nolan said about how this was supposed to go down. We need to make sure those plates get to their final destination. That way, we can meet with Nolan, put the last nail in the coffin on getting the feds off our backs, and collect our share of the cash for this run."

"I'm with you a hundred present, Prez. And I know Bagger, Tusk and Gator, and Grizzly will follow orders." I trusted Heavy since we were scrawny kids in school, and he was my best friend.
