He came back a few minutes later, holding a washcloth in his hand. He sat on the edge of the bed beside her and gently parted her legs.

Lila still hadn’t called. A week had passed since he called her. He’d give her another day or two, but then he would ask his team to track her down.
A lawyer buddy told him that it was entirely possible to get divorced without Lila’s presence using the grounds that they’d lived separately for over a year. But it would be a lengthy process that included publishing a legal ad in the local newspaper where they last lived together. Things would go much faster if she just agreed to the divorce and signed the papers. And he wanted it done as fast as possible.
Ryker clicked with Jade in a way he never had with anyone, not even Lila. He didn’t want anything — especially a long-dead relationship — to stand between them.
