The blond pouted and looked jealous. “Fine, maybe next time then. Be sure to call me!” She ran off to meet a group of friends, who all threw concerned looks at Aiden.

“What was that about?” Bex asked.

“Nothing. Don’t worry.”

His hands went to her shoulders and started massaging them and her neck, almost subconsciously.

“I’m sorry,” he murmured. “That’s my past haunting me.”

Bex did her best to set it aside. He didn’t do anything wrong. And that massage felt wonderful...

“Nothing to be sorry about. You’re a single guy at a public place.” They walked for a few minutes, with Aiden continuing his impromptu massage. “Oh, hey look. There are the bumper cars.” Bex pointed.

Aiden frowned but they made their way through the fair patrons to the ride, and waited in line to literally rock each others’ worlds.

Eventually, their night of fun continued and they let it go as they played games, ate greasy food, and enjoyed the rides.

“Is that live music?” she asked when she thought she heard applause from a crowd.

“I think so,” Aiden said.

“I recognize the band,” Bex said. “I’m friends with the lead singer. Let’s go say hi.”

Bex grabbed Aiden’s hand and pulled him backstage to the music venue. When Morgan, the lead singer, walked off stage, Bex greeted him with a huge hug.

“Hey, girl,” he said and hugged her back. “I’m stoked to see you.” He glanced around apprehensively. “I should probably warn you, Blake is here.”

“Great... Thanks for the warning. It’s good to see you.” She waved Aiden over. “Aiden, this is Morgan. He’s the lead singer of Dark Days Ahead. Meet him now before he gets too famous.”

Morgan chuckled and shook Aiden’s hand. “Gotta love an endorsement like that. Nice to meet you, man. Hang onto this chick while you can. She’s the best.”

“Thanks, Morgan. Much appreciated.” Aiden smiled.

“Bex!” she heard Blake shout over the conversation.

Shit.

“No, go away,” she answered.

She turned to Morgan and said, “I’m sorry, Morgan. It’s good to see you. You sound awesome. Let’s catch up soon. Good luck on your tour.”

“Thanks, sweetie.” He bowed at her and took off.

“What’s going on?” Aiden asked, glancing around.

She sighed. “My ex, Blake, is about to show his face. Don’t believe anything he says. We’re done.”

“Baaaaabe.” Drunk Blake’s arm circled Bex’s shoulder.

“Oh, God.”

Bex tried to push him off but Blake clung to her.

“Where have you been, babe? I’ve missed you.”

“We’re no longer together, Blake. You cheated on me. Hands-off.”

“Oh, you know that’s no big deal. None of my other girlfriends care.”
