Bex had a fantastic time and loved every minute of it. They snapped pictures, posing with the statues and at the exhibits. They told jokes and spent the day hanging out as friends. Bex would treasure it in her memories as one of her favorite days ever.

When it came down to the last hole, they went into it with Bex being ahead by one point. Carefully, she putted first at the Leaning Tower of Pisa at the last hole. She got a par and her ball disappeared down the hole, finalizing her game.

Aiden stuck his tongue between his teeth and carefully putted.

“Yes!” he shouted when he made it to the green in two strokes.

He putted, cheering when the ball disappeared.

“A tie, huh?” she teased.

“Well, of course. I couldn’t have you streak naked in front of the homecoming crowd. Think about the pictures. And I didn’t want to do it either,” he said, with a laugh. “No winners, just a draw.”

“Hmmm. Strategic compromise. Fine. Acceptable. Ice cream?”

“Sure.”

They turned in their golf clubs at the small course’s check-in window, then they walked across the street to the local ice cream shop. The teen at the window, annoyed at having to look away from his cell phone, took their orders, scooped their ice cream, and pointed them to outdoor seats under a canopy in record time.

Other people sat around enjoying their cones but no one paid any attention to them.

Bex and Aiden sat at a picnic table and dug into their double dipped chocolate ice cream cones. Bex licked and sucked at hers as it melted. She noticed Aiden’s adam’s-apple bob as he swallowed hard.

She cleared her throat.

“How do you like bartending?” she asked.

He shrugged. “It’s not my dream job but it’s interesting enough and tips well.”

“What’s your dream job?”

He gave her a sad look. “I don’t want to go there.”

“Oh.” Bex quieted. “Well, I’m living mine. I never dreamed I’d get to play music for a living.”

Aiden grinned. “I’m glad. You look good up there. Music suits you.”

He watched her band? Before she could ask him further questions, a fan approached. “You’re Bex, aren’t you?” the woman asked.

Bex put on her public face and smiled. “Yeah, I am.”

“Can I have a picture with you?”

“Sure.”

Bex handed her ice cream to Aiden and smiled as the fan snapped a cell phone selfie of the two of them.

“Thanks! I really appreciate it. I love your band so much! When’s the next album coming out?”

Bex gave the standard response their manager had pounded into them. “Soon. Follow us on social media and sign up for our newsletter for the latest updates.”

“I will. Thank you so much! I’ll treasure this forever.”

Bex nodded and the fan ran off.

She looked around and saw more people glancing her direction and talking amongst themselves.

“Okay, we need to go,” she told Aiden. She stood and took her ice cream from him.
