She felt so relaxed and at home in Aiden’s arms. This contentment had been missing from her life for the past ten years.

“Mmmm.” She sighed. “As much as I don’t want to leave, I need to go home and you need to go to work. We should probably dry off and head out.”

He pressed one more kiss to her neck and squeezed her, then he released her. “Okay, Pixie. You’re right.”

Aiden turned off the water and grabbed a towel from the rack. He dried her, then wrapped the towel around her. He picked up another towel and dried himself, wrapping it around his waist.

They went back to his bedroom, where he loaned her some sweats and an oversized t-shirt in exchange for a kiss. He got dressed in his work shirt and jeans.

A warm fuzziness fluttered in Bex’s chest from their reunion, but a sense of dread remained in the back of her mind. She wanted to stay in this bubble of perfection with Aiden forever, but real life waited for them outside. Could they survive the real world?

Chapter 15

Bex

Bex’s phone vibrated from its spot on her bedside table. She sighed when she saw the text from Jade.

Jade: Are you okay?

Bex: I’m fine. What’s up?

Jade: You haven’t seen it then?

Bex: Seen what?

The next image was a screenshot of an article wondering Aiden’s identity, with a featured image of Bex sitting across his lap on the patio, her head thrown back in her O face. The image was taken from far away with a zoom lens and looked much more intimate than it really was.

Shit. She didn’t even care about the picture of herself. The paparazzi would dig up every detail on Aiden and make his life hell.

Had he seen this yet?

Bex texted him.

Bex: Call me when you get this.

She also reached out to the band’s PR team to see if they could spin the story or run damage control.

The story didn’t worry Bex; Aiden’s reaction did.

She texted Jade a quick thanks.

Bex grabbed her phone and wandered downstairs to the kitchen counter.

Her mom prepared an eggplant parmesan for dinner and assembled the ingredients on a pan.

“Elizabeth, hi.” She smiled at Bex and wiped her bangs out of her face. “How was your date last night?”

“Great. I think Aiden and I are back together.”

“Really? Fantastic! You two were always wonderful together.”

She shoved the pan into the oven and set the timer.

“Why didn’t you tell me what was going on with Aiden’s mom?”

Her mom hesitated. “Maybe you and Aiden should talk about this?”

“Be straight with me.”
