Aiden gestured for her to quietly leave the room.

He helped her gather up her violin case and carry everything out.

“That was amazing,” he said when they stood in the hallway. “You’ve learned so much.”

Quietly, Bex knelt in the hall to pack away her violin and bow.

She said, “Thanks. I hope I brought her some comfort.”

“You definitely did. She finds it hard to fall asleep, but you helped with that.”

Bex stood and hooked her case over her shoulder. “I feel so helpless. I wish I could do something.”

Aiden wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close.

“I get it.”

She hugged him back.

“I’ll take the test. I promise,” he murmured into her hair.

“We’ll deal with whatever it says together,” she reassured him.

“Okay.”

“Promise me.” She caught his gaze and wouldn’t let him look away.

“I promise,” he said, meeting her eyes. She could see that he meant it.

She nodded. “Okay, let’s go.”

“Go where?”

“Back to your place. I have to leave soon, and you’re off tonight. We’re taking advantage of this.”

Aiden laughed as Bex took his hand and led him out to his car.

She pushed him into the driver’s seat and slammed the door. She tossed her violin in the backseat and climbed into the passenger side.

“Really?” He looked at her.

“Really. I’m leaving on tour. We are about to be separated for months, unless you come to visit but even that won’t be comfy because we’ll be stuck on a bus. Let’s enjoy the time we have together while we can.”

Aiden nodded and started the car. He pulled out onto the road.

Bex’s hand snaked into the driver’s seat and stroked his thigh through his jeans.

“What are you doing?” he laughed.

“I’m about to give you road head.”

“No, you’re not, we’ll crash.”

“No, we won’t. You’ve got this. Muscle memory. Keep your eyes open.”

“Bex...”

“Aiden.”
