They both pulled their phones up to focus on their faces again and adjusted their clothes to cover all the naughty bits.

Aiden and Bex smiled at each other for a minute.

“That was the next best thing to being with you,” Aiden said. “I can’t wait to see you.”

“I know.”

“You’ve got a scheduled break in a few weeks, right?”

“Yeah.”

“Let’s plan to get together then. You can come see me or I can come to you. Whichever works best for you.”

Bex smiled. “Okay.”

Footsteps clicked up the bus hallway.

Jade asked, “Bex are you talking to someone? I’m going to get ready for bed. Wait, is that Aiden?”

Bex’s curtain ripped open and Jade’s head poked in. “Aiden!” she shouted at Bex’s phone.

“Jade!” he shouted back.

Jade bounced on her heels. “You know who I am?”

“Of course I do! A fan would never mistake that rainbow hair!”

“Omg, yay! I have to say, I’m so happy you two are back together. Bex talked about you so much, I feel like I already know you! And I like you.”

“Okay, out.” Bex pushed Jade out of her bunk and pulled the curtain shut. “Good night, Aiden.”

He laughed. “Good night, Bex. Tell Jade good night, too.”

Bex rolled her eyes. “Talk to you soon.”

“G’night.”

Their phones disconnected.

Her curtain peeked open again. “When do I get to meet him?”

“Good night, Jade.” Bex laughed and pulled the curtain shut again.

“I’m not giving up. Congratulations on getting back with Aiden, by the way.”

“Thanks, Jade. Good night.”

“G’night. Totally meeting him!”

Bex snuggled into her bunk. She thumbed through the few pictures on her phone of her and Aiden. She didn’t have many, but he wore a smile in all of them and that comforted her.

Before long, she fell asleep.

Bex

“Babe, I’ve missed you!” Blake crossed the venue backstage and threw his arms up as though he planned to hug Bex.
