She texted Greg that she needed to talk to him ASAP.

Bex hurried up the bus steps and sat in the front lounge of the bus, waiting to talk to management, antsy that she wasn’t on the road yet.

When Greg finally appeared and sat next to her on the couch, she explained everything to him.

He nodded as though he understood, but then asked her if she could do that night’s show.

She glared at him.

Greg said, “The show will be done in a few hours. I can get you a week off if we reschedule the shows after tonight, but the opening band is literally onstage right now. It would cost millions to reschedule tonight. I just... I feel for you but it’s too late to cancel tonight’s show.”

“I...” She wasn’t used to being told no, so she had to take a minute to recalculate. “Can you get me a private plane? If you can get me a car to the airport and a private, direct flight after the show, I’ll play. If you can’t guarantee me that, I’m hopping in a car right now.” Driving versus flying would probably put her in around the same time.

“I can get you a plane.”

“Do it. I have to be there.”

Greg nodded and headed off the bus.

When she was alone, Bex let her face fall into her hands and let the tears flow. The situation overwhelmed her. Aiden would never forgive her if she was too late.

Jade’s head popped through the curtain. She immediately said, “Who do I need to murder? Oh don’t cry.”

Jade noticed the tears and rushed over to wrap Bex in her arms. The rest of the band quickly followed Jade up the steps, taking up the entire lounge of the bus.

Bex explained what was happening and what Greg had said.

“Nope. I’ve got this. You’re going right now,” Jade said.

“But what about the show?”

“We’ll sing in your place. No biggie. We’ll make it a special treat for the crowd.”

The others agreed.

Jade relaxed her hold on Bex long enough to pull out her cell phone and make a call.

“Hey, Ry. Can you get a plane arranged out of here ASAP?”

Bex didn’t know why she didn’t think of it first, but if anyone could set this trip up, Jade’s former Navy SEAL fiancé could make it happen.

Jade gave him the details, nodded, and said, “Okay. It’s for Bex. I’ll put her in a car now. She’ll be at the airport in 15 minutes. Thanks, Ry.” She hung up her phone.

Jade’s gaze leveled on Bex. “You’re gonna be there. Go pack a bag. There’s a car outside waiting for you, when you’re ready.”

“Thank you, Jade.”

“You got it. Go get packed.”

Bex climbed off the couch and rushed back to her bunk. She threw a random assortment of clothes in her duffle bag and took off.

The band lined down the bus aisle and gave Bex their well wishes as she headed off toward the waiting car.

“Best of luck to you. We’ve got this. Hell, you’ve got this,” Jade reassured her. “Call me if you need anything.”

Bex climbed into the waiting car, full of reassurances and encouragements, not sure what she could do but be there for the love of her life and his mom.
