“You look really creepy right now,” Bex commented.
“Sorry, I can’t help it. I have a surprise for you.” Jade clapped excitedly.
Jade handed her lingerie, which Bex thought was weird. Jade never helped her dress.
“Put these on. Don’t ask me questions,” Jade said.
Bex slid on the blue underwear and bra. Her breasts had increased by two sizes, so she was pleasantly surprised when the bra fit.
“Sit,” Jade said. She gestured to the dressing chair.
Jade dried Bex’s hair and combed it. She styled it in a pastel pink kerchief.
“Gorgeous,” Jade said. She put a necklace on Bex that looked antique.
“What are you doing?” Bex asked.
“I’m surprising you. Enjoy it.” Jade grinned.
Jade grabbed a dress bag off the wardrobe rack and handed it to Bex. “Put this on.”
Bex unzipped the bag. “Oh, Jade. This is beautiful.”
Jade grinned. “Put it on.”
Bex lifted the pastel pink, lace-covered dress from the bag.
“Are you sure? It seems like overkill. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Trust me. Put it on.”
Bex put the dress on, which fit perfectly like it had been tailored to her. Jade zipped the back for her. The short dress perfectly displayed her huge stomach. She looked classy and the dress flattered her.
“Oh my god, how?”
Jade smiled. “We’ve got you, superwoman. We may have asked your costume person about sizes but that’s beside the point. We’ve got you. Let’s go.”
“Who’s we?”
“Not telling.”
Jade placed comfortable flats in front of Bex and waited for her to slide them on. Then she wrapped her arm through Bex’s and led her out of the room.
“Where are we going?” Bex asked.
“Surprise.”
“I don’t do well with surprises.”
“This one will be worth it. I promise.”
They walked through the halls of the venue, out the door, outside to the back parking lot. The night air felt cool and crisp. The buses were arranged in a circle and a glow of light came from between them. Bex noted that the glow emanated from fairy lights, which cut the darkness and grew brighter as they approached.
“What’s going on?” Bex asked.
Jade patted her arm. “It’s a surprise, my lovely. You’ll like it.”
As they reached the first bus, Bex’s father stepped forward from the shadows. He wore a suit. “Hey, baby.”
