Page 8 of Calling the Play

Her hand was on the knob when I called her name, and she looked at me over her shoulder. I crooked my finger, and her lips tipped up at the corners as she spun around and skipped down the steps to stand before me.

“If you tell me, I’ll tell you.”

Lorna’s cheeks burned, but the curiosity in her eyes was so strong, I was sure it would get the best of her.

“You first,” she insisted.

I grinned and bent over to whisper in her ear. “I told you that I was dying to be inside you.”

When I straightened, she was gawking at me, but I grinned when she hugged herself around the middle, pushing up her tits and showing off her hard nipples poking through her top. Then she shifted and thought it was so subtle I almost missed it. I noticed the slight tightening of her thighs.

“Your turn, lass,” I reminded her in a low, smooth voice.

“Um…” Lorna’s gaze dropped to the ground, and she shuffled her feet a few times, then took a deep breath. “She told me to stop waiting around because you’re perfect.”

She looked everywhere but at me, and I narrowed my eyes. “That’s not all she said,” I stated.

“How do you know?” Her tone was indignant, but she still hadn’t met my gaze.

I gripped her chin and lifted her face, finally gaining her eyes. “That wouldn’t have made you blush so hard, lass. What else did she say? Tit for tat, Lorna.”

She sighed. “Ivy said I should let you pop my cherry.”

Holy fucking shit.

I was speechless. Partly because I couldn’t believe this gorgeous woman was a virgin, and partly because I was absolutely consumed with lust. A Neanderthal that I didn’t know lived inside me started beating its chest in triumph at knowing I would be the first and only man to ever be inside Lorna.

She opened her mouth to say something, her eyes swimming with worry. Probably taking my silence as disgust or something equally ridiculous.

I released her chin and placed my finger over her lips to keep her quiet. Then I dropped my head so that we were almost nose to nose. “I intend to, lass.”

Her mouth opened and her eyes went wide, so I gave her one more quick, hard kiss and then turned her around by her shoulders and urged her back up the steps.

“Six, Lorna,” I reminded her.

She peeked at me over her shoulder and nodded, a small smile playing at her lips. Then she went inside, and I walked stiffly to my car, wincing with every painful step. I couldn’t think of a single time when I’d been this fucking hard.

I drove home with the windows down, the air conditioner blasting, and rock music blaring from my speakers while trying to think of every unsexy thing I’d ever seen.

When I arrived home, I wasn’t in a much better state, and even more so after an ice-cold shower. I dropped into bed and fell asleep but returned to the shower twice more that night after waking up from erotic dreams of Lorna.

LORNA

“Icannot believe you picked up a football hottie at the club your first time going out. Talk about giving yourself a heck of a birthday present.” Ivy grinned up at me from the edge of the bathtub, where she was perched while watching me get ready for my date with Cole. “Darla was so freaking jealous, I wouldn’t have been surprised if her hair spontaneously turned green last night. And not because of an oxidized mineral buildup.”

I rolled my eyes with a laugh. “I don’t know, that might’ve been a lucky break for her. She could use a good dose of a purple toner to balance out the brassiness of her most recent dye job.”

“I wish I could say you’re wrong…but you’re spot-on.” Ivy huffed, shaking her head. “I don’t get why she’s never taken me up on my offer to do her hair for her. Not even with the family and friends discount, which basically means my time is free, and she would only have to cover supplies.”

I shrugged. “She definitely has her quirks.”

“True,” Ivy agreed with a nod. “I’ll never understand why she makes some of the choices she does.”

Why Ivy was still friends with Darla when they had nothing in common anymore baffled me. Still, they’d known each other practically forever, so I assumed it was familiarity more than anything.

Putting the finishing touches on my makeup, I turned toward Ivy and asked, “Do I look okay?”
