“That’s nice,” I tell her.

She explains that she played musical chairs, and when the music stopped, she sat on a balloon that popped, and there was a little plastic baby inside.

She shows me the baby that she has tucked into the basket.

“Sounds like you had a lot of fun,” I say.

“It was the best. Can Lexie and I make cocoa?” she asks.

“How about we save that for after dinner tonight?” I suggest.

“Okay,” she agrees without argument. “Can I video Mommy and show her my basket?”

“Sure. Do you remember how the video works?” I ask.

She nods, and I hand her my phone.

I spot Sela standing by the punch bowl. She’s wearing a cream-colored sweater dress and a pair of knee-high, heeled leather boots.

“Did you win any prizes?” I ask as I approach her.

“Unfortunately, no,” she replies.

“I like this,” I say as I tug the side of her dress.

“You do?”

“Yep, it hugs your curves in all the right places,” I growl.

Her eyes flare with heat.

“And those boots are sexy as hell.”

A throat clears, and I glance over my shoulder to see Norris standing there.

Shit.

I step away from his daughter as his assessing eyes dart between the two of us.

“Hi, Daddy,” she says.

“Sweetheart, you look beautiful,” he says as he pulls her into a warm hug.

“You guys are going to give me a big head,” she says as she returns his embrace.

“The truth is the truth,” he states. Then, he leans in and asks, “Can you point me toward the food?”

Sela steps aside and points him in the direction of the catering table.

“Don’t look so guilty,” she whispers as we watch him make his way to the leftovers.

“I’m not used to a father sneaking up on me while I’m trying to make his daughter blush,” I say.

She pops me in the chest. “That’s what you were doing!”

I chuckle. “Yep, because the only thing sexier than those boots is when your cheeks turn pink and I know you’re thinking something dirty,” I murmur in her ear.

She giggles. “You’re bad.”
