“I think that’s a good goal to set, but don’t be too disappointed if it doesn’t happen.”

“Oh, it’s gonna happen, and you’re gonna help take it there. Which means you need to sign a new contract and stay with us.”

“T, I’m not sure that’s how negotiations work.” The biggest one crosses his arms.

“Why don’t you have an agent?” she asks.

“Never needed one,” I answer, completely amused.

Another girl walks over and holds her hand up. “You’re about here.” She lowers her hand. “We need you at about here.”

“She’s Amias’s older sister.” T rolls her eyes. “And she’s one of the new owners.”

“Nice to meet you.”

“Brisa. My name’s Brisa.” She holds out her hand, and I shake it.

The big kid starts walking over. “You remember me?”

“Sorry, I’m not sure I do.”

“You have a wolf, wings, and?—”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. You did my tattoo.” I reach out my hand, and he shakes it. “You still an artist?”

“I hit the city once in a while and work at one of our cousin Bella and her husband, Tag’s, shops, or the one our grandmother, Momma Joe, owned. Our fathers all are pretty damn good with a pen. Justice Steel.”

“JT.” I nod. “I’d love to add to my piece. I have five kids that need representation.”

“Anytime.”

“Small world,” I say, hitting the unlock button.

“It sure is. Look, we love this game. We pooled our money and bought this team when we heard Buck was thinking of selling. You’re one of the best on here. We really want you to stay on.”

“The rest of the team?” I ask.

“Lot of them are beat to hell.” He’s not wrong. “But we’re not looking to pocket a bunch of money or fuck anyone over. We all have our own things going on. Tris, the mouthy one, is a little pop star. Brisa’s a social media wiz. Kiki’s husband is Brand Falcon?—”

“Country singer?” I ask.

“Yeah.”

“Um, hello? Pop star right here,” Tris calls to us, and Amias drags her away.

I can’t help but laugh.

“We’re going to make this stadium a place people want to be. And we want you to do that with us.”

“I need to talk to the boss. If we stay in, at least it’ll be entertaining around here.”

“Family man. Can’t choose ’em, but never wanna lose ’em, you know?” He nods to them. “Forever Steel.”

Lying in bed with Chase on my chest, I look up and see Whit taking a picture.

“Next time, give me a heads-up, and I’ll flex.”

She laughs as she sits down and leans against the headboard and runs her fingers through my hair.
