We don’t stop for a break but continue driving forward. It takes us less than an hour to reach the entry gate of our military estate.

“Do you want to wait for Seth?” I ask.

“No,” Simon replies, his face mirroring my bitter emotions.

“That’s what I was hoping for,” I say, driving the car toward the infirmary.

My gaze falls on the line of men in maroon uniforms stationed outside the hospital building.

“I’m glad Seth is taking precautions,” Simon mutters, climbing out of the car. “We cannot afford to lose a perp like Jake Hudson.”

“I can’t wait to squeeze out answers from his lips,” I say, feeling the stab of revenge in my chest. “Callahan is tight-lipped but I bet a greasy weasel like Hudson will crumble under pressure easily.”

The guards straighten up as we walk past them.

Entering the infirmary, we march down the hallway. More guards come into our sight as we head toward the ward where Jake is being kept.

Pushing the door, we step inside the room and find Jake’s tall, lean figure on a cot. His body is swathed under a white sheet while his wrists are handcuffed to the bed.

His nostrils flare the moment he sees us.

“You!” he shouts, struggling against the handcuffs. “Let me out immediately!”

A cold chuckle escapes me. “Where do you think you are, buddy? We’re the only ones who give out the commands here.”

“This is illegal!” he screams. “You cannot detain me like this!”

“Illegal? We found you assaulting our mate.”

“You’re lying! You didn’t see anything!”

“Oh, but we did,” says Simon, grinning like a maniac. “We even have the whole thing on video.”

Jake’s expression falters. “What?”

“You’re not going anywhere for a long time,” I tell him.

His face pales. “What do you mean by that?” he asks in a low, fearful tone.

“You’re going to stay here and tell us everything you know about the Black Widow’s business model,” Simon says, pointing a finger at him.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he mumbles, looking away.

Shaking my head, I sit down at the edge of his cot. “Listen up, asshole. We know about your dirty deeds already.”

“Can you prove any of them?” Jake sneers. “Rory’s words aren’t going to convince anyone.”

Before I know it, I’ve laid a punch on his face. “Don’t utter her name, you disgusting piece of shit!” I want to pound his face into a pulp right now but I control my rage.

Jake whimpers pathetically and turns away from me.

“Hey, don’t bruise his mouth,” Simon says, clutching my shoulder. “We need him to do a lot of talking, remember?”

“I don’t know anything!” Jake shouts through a sob. “Let me go. Please!”

“Your crocodile tears aren’t going to fool anyone,” Simon says in a grim tone. “We know what you and your masters have been up to. Do you want proof? Well, we’ve got servers full of data to prove your involvement with the Black Widow.”

“What?” Jake’s eyes widen as he stares between me and my brother. “What servers?”
