“Sure,” Seth says. “We’re here for you, Philip.”

“Do your parents know about the things Rory went through?” Dad asks in a low, grim tone. “Can they accept her past? Can they accept her as a part of your pack?”

Seth nods. “Our dads are aware of Rory’s history with the Black Widow,” he says with a serious look on his face. “They sympathize with her completely. If you’re worried about their acceptance, please rest assured. My parents have fully accepted Rory as a part of our pack.”

“Really?” A desperate look comes over Dad. “They don’t mind that she was tortured so badly by those vile men?”

“How about we take you to meet them?” Seth says, glancing around at his brothers.

“That’s actually a great idea,” says Simon, grinning. “Our dads are home today, so you can talk to them and hear for yourself what they think of Rory and our relationship with her.”

Dad is on his feet in an instant. “Then, let’s go.”

“Wait a minute!” I say. “How can you just go and meet them like that?

“Rory, our dads won’t mind,” says Oliver. “Besides, you’re practically family now.”

“Yeah, but—”

“Stop worrying,” Oliver says, coming closer to me. He sinks into the couch beside me and wraps an arm around my shoulders. “You’re still kind of scared of them, aren’t you?”

“Why is Rory scared of them?” Dad asks at once. His eyes narrow in suspicion as he looks at me. “Did they do anything to you, sweetheart?”

“What? No!”

“Then, what is it? Why can’t you meet their parents?”

“Rory’s been afraid of our dads ever since we told her they punished Seth,” Oliver explains while his finger brushes lazy patterns on my shoulder.

A curious look spreads on Dad’s face. “Why did he punish Seth?” He points at Oliver and Simon. “You guys seem more prone to getting into trouble than him.”

The twins chuckle together.

“You’re right about that. Seth-bear is usually the one to stick to the rules,” says Oliver.

“Yeah, he’s got a stick right up his...” Simon says, laughing.

“Shut up,” Seth growls.

I smother my chuckle at the annoyed look on Seth’s face and keep a neutral expression. Dad looks amused too and does his best to not laugh too hard.

“Seth left his post to protect Rory,” Oliver says in a more serious tone. “She went into heat right after escaping her underground prison and needed someone to look after her. He went MIA for over a week while he was with her.”

“Seth never explained the reason behind his disappearance,” Simon adds, looking grim. “He was protecting Rory’s secret and identity at that time, so he chose to stay silent and take on the punishment that was given to him.”

Dad’s expression softens as he glances at Seth. “Military disciplinary action must’ve included physical punishment.”

“It did,” Seth says quietly. “But, I didn’t care. I gave my word to Rory that I’d protect her identity as one of the rescued omegas. No matter what they did to me, I was intent on keeping my promise to her.”

“You should be afraid of a psycho like Seth-bear,” Oliver mutters. “Not our dads who probably hurt worse than him for doling out his punishment. Our mom was upset with them for days. Our brother is one stubborn son-of-a-gun at times.”

Dad moves toward Seth and pulls him into a sudden hug. “Thank you for saving my baby girl. I would’ve died if she didn’t come back to me.”

Surprise flits through Seth’s eyes but a moment later, he’s hugging Dad back. “There’s no need to thank me, Philip. Your daughter’s my mate and my life. I’d die to protect her and I’d do so happily.” Breaking away, he smiles at my dad. “Let’s go meet my parents. They’d love to be introduced to you too.”

Dad swipes a tear away from his face and clears his throat. “Come on, sweetheart,” he says, gesturing at me. “Let’s go meet the Burtons.”

Simon captures my hand and pulls me to my feet.
