Another chuckle escapes me. I can’t believe Seth is resorting to such bribery to play with the baby.

Soon, we enter the maternity clinic and head up to the third floor where Iris is recuperating. Reaching her ward, Seth gently knocks on the door.

The sound of footsteps approaches us and next moment, the door slides open, revealing a tall, beautiful man.

“Hi, Julian,” I say, smiling up at him.

“I didn’t think you guys would be coming tonight,” Julian says, stepping back.

“This is for you,” Seth says, handing him the box of pastries.

“Oh wow!” Julian breathes. “This is my favorite bakery in town.”

I catch Seth’s wink as he moves toward the baby’s crib.

Following behind him, I reach the bed where Iris is resting. She smiles at me and gestures for me to sit on one of the chairs.

“How have you been?” I ask, taking my seat.

“I’m feeling much better,” she says, glancing toward Seth who’s already taken the baby into his arms. “They’ll release me tomorrow morning, so we can finally go home.”

Relief floods through me. “That’s great!” I say. “I’m so glad you can finally go home and relax.”

“You’ve got to try this chocolate éclair,” Julian says, sitting down on the bed beside Iris. “It’s simply divine. I’d even go as far as to say it’s better than the ones we ate in Paris.”

A look of interest comes over Iris as she peeks into the box in Julian’s hands.

“Here, try this,” Julian says, handing her an éclair.

Within minutes, they’re both distracted with the pastries. Smiling to myself, I watch Seth as he gently coos to the baby.

Despite his powerful muscular build, Seth is amazingly gentle with the newborn child. A warm smile spreads on his face as he talks to the baby in a soft, deep voice.

Seth would be an amazing dad, the thought strikes me as I continue to gaze at him.

A deep yearning arises within me as I stare at my mate. Suddenly, I can’t wait until the baby in his arms is ours.

Until now, I didn’t think I was ready to be a mother. I kept thinking I wasn’t fit to be a mom because of the trauma I was still dealing with.

Even though I still get nightmares, they don’t bother me anymore. Keeping up with my exercises has allowed me to grow stronger both physically and mentally. With my mates’ support, I’ve been able to come out of the depths of desperation that kept me trapped in my own head.

I’m ready, I hear myself thinking. I want to be a mom too.

“Hey, are you okay?” Seth says, noticing the change in my expression.

“Yeah, I’m okay,” I say, standing up. Moving closer to him, I gently caress the baby’s soft hair. “There’s something I need to tell you, though.”

Seth’s forehead creases. “What is it, love?”

“I want a baby.”

His emerald eyes grow wide as he stares at me. “This baby?” he whispers, gesturing at Iris’s daughter.

I shake my head. “I want our baby.”

Seth’s expression falters. He suddenly whirls toward Iris and Julian who’re licking chocolate off their fingers.

“Here, take her,” Seth says, putting the baby in Julian’s arms. “We’ve got to go.”
