A mischievous grin lifts the corners of my brother’s lips. “When I was at Solveig Estate, Julian and Iris gave me a bunch of listening devices they’ve been working on. I still have the box tucked in my glove compartment. How about we scatter them around the senator’s mansion?”

I feel a grin coming onto my lips too. “You want to bug this place?”

Seth nods, his grin widening.

“Good thinking, Seth-bear. I bet we can dig deeper inside the operations of the Black Widow by listening in on him.”

“Yep. It’ll be the most effective way to uncover his secrets.”

“Come on, Rory,” I say, grasping her hand firmly. “Let’s get you out of here.”

A relieved smile blossoms on her face. She almost sags against me when I pull her against me.

Pride spreads through me as we walk out of the room. Even after the murders she just witnessed, Rory is still in control of her emotions. Tucked between me and Seth, she looks calm and relaxed.

It’s astonishing to realize she’s the same woman who’d been plagued by nightmares and panic attacks for weeks. Even though she needed our help, she still managed to hurt an alpha to escape him. She didn’t let her fear cripple her.

Rory is no longer the scared, injured omega we rescued several months ago, I realize as my arm tightens around her shoulders. It won’t be long before she grows stronger, both physically and mentally. Once she’s healed, she’ll rise like a phoenix from the ashes.

My heart lifts the moment we step outside the luxurious mansion. The chilly night air makes me shiver but I don’t mind it one bit. My whole focus is on the men beside me.

Seth and Oliver jog on my side, steadily guiding me away from the front entrance of the mansion. Every corner of the grounds is covered in shadows but I don’t feel an ounce of fear with my mates beside me.

“Rory! Oh, thank God!” A familiar voice whispers in the dark.

Next moment, Simon’s heady citrusy scent wafts into my nostrils.

“Simon!” I exclaim as he moves forward to wrap his arms around me.

Pressed against him, I feel all my worries melting away. I didn’t see him earlier and wondered where he was.

“What have you been doing out here?” I ask.

“I was keeping a lookout while Seth and Oli went inside to help you.” Looking ahead, he meets his brothers’ gazes. “What took you so long? My ass got sweaty waiting for you guys.”

“Rory thought she killed Senator Vaughn,” Oliver says with a low chuckle. “We went to check on him.”

“What?” Simon’s eyes glisten in the dim light as he stares at me. “Did you really do that?”

I shake my head. “I only managed to knock him out.”

“Wow,” he breathes. “That’s impressive, Princess.”

“We’ll have enough time to talk and catch up later,” Seth says in a commanding tone. “Let’s get Rory out of here, first.”

Simon nods. “Let’s go.”

Seth lays a hand on his shoulder. “You need to stay here for a while longer and keep watch. Oliver and I will take Rory to the car. He’ll stay with her while I’ll come back with some listening devices to scatter around the asshole’s mansion.”

A confused look spreads over Simon’s face but he doesn’t ask any questions. He nods and sprints back into the shadows.

“Come on,” Seth says in a grim tone, leading the way toward the tall walls that fence the whole property.

“Do we need to climb over it to get out of here?” I whisper, feeling nervous.
