“Can one of you stay with me tonight?”

“We’d all love to spend the night with you,” says Oliver.

“It’s about time we got a bigger bed for Rory’s nest,” says Simon.

“I’m on it,” says Oliver. “Hey, where’s my phone?”

“Come on, Bruh,” says Simon, climbing off the bed. “Let Seth stay back here tonight. Too much movement will stop the wound from clotting.”

“We should take him to the doc tomorrow,” says Oliver, sliding off the bed. “I have a feeling it’ll need stitches.”

“Yeah,” Simon says, looking concerned.

“Let me cover you,” I say, pulling up the sheet over Seth’s chest.

“It’s okay, Rory. I’m fine.”

“Here, put your leg up on this cushion,” I say, pushing a pillow under his injured leg.

“I wish I was the one who got injured,” Simon says with a chuckle. “Then, Rory would be fussing over me and I could be spending the night with her.”

“Stop talking crap and just order the bed that’ll fit all of us,” says Oliver, dragging Simon toward the door. “That way, we can all be here with her every night.”

“Are you feeling okay?” Seth asks when the twins have left the room.

“I’m home now,” I say, smiling. “You’re all home with me. That’s all I need to feel happy and safe.” Leaning in, I capture his lips.

His familiar rosemary scent pervades my senses, leaving me feeling truly safe. Settling down next to him, I rest my head against his chest.

I’m home, the thought runs through my mind once again before I close my eyes.

A relieved breath escapes me as my eyes open to the sight of a familiar ceiling. Memories of last night rush through my mind, reminding me how close I’d gotten to losing everything for a second time.

Sitting up, I look around at the familiar corners of my room. The crimson and maroon hues calm my jittery nerves, allowing me to breathe deeply. “I’m home,” I whisper.

Feeling wide awake, I look toward the other side of the bed.

Seth is no longer beside me. A glance at the clock shows that it’s already past eight in the morning. Usually, Seth and his brothers would be preparing to leave for their posts but I’d hoped they’d stay home with me today.

Suddenly, my gaze falls on a folded note lying on Seth’s pillow.

I eagerly reach for it and open it.

Morning, love.

We’re having breakfast in the kitchen. You were sleeping so soundly, I didn’t want to wake you up. We’ll bring your breakfast to the room before we leave. I hope you’ll wake up by then, otherwise, we’ll just have to whisper our goodbyes.

-Seth.

My smile widens as I read the note in Seth’s neat handwriting. Pressing the sheet to my chest, I acutely feel a surge of warmth spreading through my veins.

Climbing off the bed, I part the curtains to look out at the low green hills that dot the horizon. A clear blue sky greets me, telling me it’s going to be another sunny spring day.

Seth, Oliver, and Simon aren’t going to sit back after learning the truth from me. They’re intent on eradicating the last traces of the terrorist organization, so even if Seth’s injured, he’s not going to take a break.
