I glance toward Seth. “Are you going to try it too?”

“Nah. I’m not good at handling spicy food,” he says with a small chuckle.

Turning my attention toward the twins, I watch for their reactions as they each take a bite.

“Mmhmm,” Simon makes a noise as he nods. “It’s quite good. And you know what’d be a great addition? Some slices of avocados and coriander, maybe?”

“That’s right, Oliver,” Dad says, mistaking him for his brother. “One of my Mexican friends gave me the first taste of eggs this way inside a burrito. Ever since then, I have loved adding sriracha to my eggs. The ketchup helps tame the spice and adds a savory touch to them.”

I turn toward Oliver who has a funny expression on his face.

“You don’t like it, Bruh?” Simon asks, leaning in.

“It tastes weird,” Oliver says, making a face.

A snort escapes me. “That’s exactly how I feel.”

Oliver winks at me and grins.

“This is one of those rare examples when their tastes don’t match,” Seth says with an amused grin.

“So, Oliver likes his eggs this way and Simon doesn’t?” Dad asks hopefully, looking between my twin mates.

They shake their heads in uncanny identical gestures.

“I’m Simon and this is Oliver,” Simon says.

Dad smiles but the confusion is clear on his face.

I catch Seth’s eye and can’t help chuckling.

My heart swells with warmth and happiness. It feels amazing to see the way my dad is bonding with Seth, Oliver, and Simon. I’m so glad he feels comfortable with them and is starting to trust them.

Once again, I can’t believe how close I’d gotten to losing everything last night.

Jake’s threat still hovers over me but I’m going to allow myself to trust Seth and his brothers. They’ll surely protect both me and Dad. I don’t know what will happen in the future, so for now, I decide to enjoy the moment and smile at my dad and my mates.

A group of armed guards march toward me the moment my truck comes to a stop in front of the gates of Solveig Estate. Hostile expressions are etched on their faces as they surround me.

Rolling the window down, I peer at them.

“Captain Burton,” the closest guard greets me. His face relaxes as he salutes me. “Could I take a look at your ID?”

“Of course,” I say, handing him my ID card through the window.

The man takes a quick look before giving it back to me. Turning around, he gestures at the soldiers stationed by the gate.

I look ahead as the gates are opened to me. Stepping on the gas, I drive the car forward and enter the heavily fortified military estate that belongs to the Solveig pack.

I spoke to my brothers the moment I woke up this morning. While Rory slept, the three of us made a plan to attack Senator Vaughn and Jake Hudson as soon as possible.

We had no idea they were involved with the Black Widow until last night. Rory’s confession about what her ex-boyfriend did to her shook us all to the core. We managed to keep calm exteriors as she spoke of her painful past but deep inside, we were battling with our beasts.

I wanted to walk out of the house with my torn-up leg and shoot Jake Hudson in the face for what he’d done to her.
