The bastard doesn’t deserve a quick death, though. This was the only thought that kept me in control.

Jake Hudson must suffer at least a hundred times more pain than Rory. How dare he break her trust and sell her to the Black Widow? How could he leave her at the hands of those evil men?

Was he even a human being? Rage flows through my veins like hot lava every time I think about him.

Nox Callahan, the leader of the Black Widow, is currently locked away in the dungeons of Solveig Estate. Caleb and his pack have secretly confined him here and are using the opportunity to interrogate him about the organization’s operations.

Both I and my brothers believe he’ll have the information that will help us put Vaughn Dumas behind bars. The mere thought that men like the senator are still roaming free spikes my anger.

I have to meet Caleb and get his help to avenge Rory.

She’s still scared about the threats Jake made last night. If he leaked the video he showed her with a twisted version of the truth, it’d damage her dad’s reputation and destroy his hard-earned career.

Rory gambled with her life last night to protect us. We can’t allow her to be manipulated in the same way ever again. We have to destroy the people related to the omega trafficking business before they can come after her and the other innocent women we rescued.

A familiar figure appears in the distance.

Caleb’s tall, broad physique is easily distinguishable among the young cadets roaming the vast grounds of the estate. Waving at me, he jogs toward me as I cut off the engine.

“Hey, Seth,” he greets, squinting against the sunshine that falls directly into his silvery-gray eyes. “How’re you doing?”

“Fine.”

“Not in the mood for small talk, huh?” he says, sensing my true emotions in my short, curt reply. When I remain silent, he gives a short nod and gestures for me to follow him.

“Why are you limping?” he asks after a while.

“I got hurt while trying to escape the senator’s guards,” I say, remembering the moment Vaughn’s men found us inside his house.

“Is it serious?”

“Nah, I’ll be fine in a few days.”

Caleb nods, looking relieved. “Julian told me what happened last night,” he says as we walk across the sprawling grounds of Solveig Estate.

“We owe him so much,” I say, thinking about the way his omega helped us. “Julian responded with prompt action last night. Thanks to him, we were able to rescue Rory in time. If we’d been a second late, she’d be lost to us forever.”

“I’m glad she’s safe,” he says in a grim tone. “But, did she tell you what happened? What caused her to run away to Senator Dumas’s house in the middle of the night?”

“She was blackmailed into it,” I explain. “Her ex was the one who sold her to the Black Widow. He sneaked into the party and was lying in wait for her. The moment he found her alone, he threatened her with a video.”

“A video?”

My hands ball into tight fists at my sides. “A video of her being taken by several men,” I grate the words out like poison. “The bastard threatened to release the clip and make it look like her dad was selling her to these men for money. He’s taking advantage of the fact that the public has no idea about the hundreds of omegas we rescued from the Black Widow’s hideout.”

“It’s no secret that Mayor Bailley was a rich man before he got into politics,” Caleb says. “He’d never need to sell his daughter for money. No one would believe such a lie.”

“People will eat up whatever you feed them,” I hiss. “They think Callahan managed to escape us and that we’re all a bunch of morons.”

“True,” Caleb says with a heavy sigh.

We walk in silence for a while before another thought occurs to me.

“Did you find anything on Senator Dumas and Jake Hudson in the files we recovered from the site?” I ask.

A disturbed expression comes over him. “No. Their names aren’t mentioned anywhere.”

“But it’s clear that they were involved with the Widow.”
