Soon, we’re driving past the heavily guarded gates of the estate.

“Since we’re stopping by the supermarket, should we ask Iris if she’ll need us to bring anything over for dinner?” Simon asks.

“Sure,” Oliver answers from the front seat. “Oh, and tell her to make some of her chocolate brownies for dinner. I’ve been craving them for a while now.”

Simon nods enthusiastically and digs into his pocket to grab his phone.

“Are you guys sure we won’t be bothering her by barging into her home like this?” I say, worried.

“She won’t mind at all,” Simon says, grinning. “Both Julian and Iris would welcome the distraction. Their mates are so overprotective, they rarely get to step outside their homes.”

“You have no idea how lucky we feel that you like staying in and painting all day,” Oliver says, glancing back at me.

“Let’s see how long it lasts,” I say with an amused chuckle. “I used to love shopping and partying with my friends. Maybe I’ll go back to that phase again?”

“If that ever happens, we’ll send an entire battalion to guard you,” Simon says from beside me.

I laugh at the absurdity of such an idea but my humor vanishes at the serious look on his face. “Are you being serious?”

“Of course,” Simon says with a nod. “We’d never kid about your safety, Rory.”

“Is that the reason Iris and Julian hardly step outside?”

A sheepish look comes over him as he shrugs a shoulder.

“You guys are impossible!” I say, teasingly hitting his arm.

Catching my wrist, he tugs me against his chest.

Heart pounding, I stare into his intense blue eyes.

“You’re our mate, Rory,” Simon says in a deep voice. “We’ll guard you with our lives, darling.”

The fierce possessiveness in his voice sends a sudden throb through my core. A moan escapes me as I tilt my face up, wishing he’d kiss me already.

His gaze intensifies as he leans in to capture my lips in a hot kiss.

His fresh green tea and citrusy scent envelops me as I melt against him. My fingers dig into his dark locks as I thoroughly kiss him back.

“Oi! Make the call already,” Oliver snaps, breaking us apart. “We’re nearly there.”

“Ignore him,” Simon mumbles against my mouth, capturing my lips once again.

“I’m making her sit next to me on our way back,” Oliver mutters from the front seat.

A chuckle escapes me, breaking the moment.

Simon sighs and rolls his eyes dramatically. Pulling away, he takes his phone out and makes the call to his cousin.

“Hey,” he says after a pause. “Yeah, we’re on our way. Listen, can you make us some of those brownies you made last time?”

His grin widens as he listens on.

“Awesome! Do you have everything you’re going to need?” Simon asks. “We can shop for you on the way.”

“Does she need anything?” Oliver asks as Simon switches off the call and puts his phone back into his pocket.

“Nah, she just wants us to hurry up and get there. She’s excited to meet Rory.” His gaze fixes on something in the distance, so I turn in that direction and spot the supermarket coming closer.
