My strength is no match against his but that only fuels my desperation.

I beat at his arms and chest while he pumps his fingers in and out of me. He laughs at my weak resistance, enjoying himself fully.

“You feel so very tight,” he croons, staring into my eyes. “How can your pussy still feel so incredible even after so many men had their turn with you? Omegas are truly built for pleasure.”

My courage starts to crumble as his fingers tear my dress. The satiny material rips under the force of his relentless hands, baring my arms and breasts to him.

“You’re so very delicious,” he says, burying his face between my cleavage. “I’m going to bite every inch of you and make you scream.”

My arms flail while my fingers desperately clutch at the sheet with the last of my strength. That’s when something hard brushes against my palm.

While Vaughn stays distracted, I feel for the strange object.

It’s a few seconds before I realize that it’s the base of the bedside lamp.

Instead of resisting Vaughn, I spend the rest of my waning stamina into grabbing the heavy metal stand. The moment my fingers clamp securely around the base, I pick it up and bring it smashing down on my assaulter’s head.

With a breathless gasp, Vaughn goes still.

Unsure whether he’s truly passed out, I whack him in the head a second time. A sickening crunch emanates in the quiet room as he continues to lie still on top of me.

Throwing him off, I slowly sit up.

Vaughn lies on the bed beside me without moving a muscle. His head slumps to the side at an odd angle as I pant for breath.

My fingers still clutch the lamp tightly. Bringing it close, I see the blood that paints its bronze surface.

Struggling to breathe properly, I quickly get off the bed. My dress hangs in tatters over my body but I don’t care for it as I run across the room.

Wrenching open the door, I take a backward look.

Vaughn is still lying in the same position where I left him. A part of me wonders whether he’s still alive or not but my curiosity isn’t as strong as my need to get away from him.

Opening the door wider, I run.

Iris’s sudden absence wreaks havoc on my mind. I stand alone in her room while a thousand thoughts race through my head.

Is she okay?

What made her leave the party without a word to us?

Who were the two women following her? Could it just be a coincidence or was there a more sinister reason behind their presence?

I was able to reassure Mr. Bailley and sent him down to look after his guests but I fail to calm myself. My intuition tells me Iris is in danger but I don’t want anyone else to be aware of the situation. There could be hidden enemies among the mass that has gathered downstairs.

I wait for my brothers to return with the laptop and other equipment from my car. Every minute that we lose heightens my anxiety.

Rory is much healthier than before but she’s still prone to panic attacks from time to time. I hate the idea of her roaming the streets during this late hour on her own.

Perhaps it was a bad idea to bring her to a gathering of politicians and bureaucrats. There’s a good chance a few of them are related to the Black Widow. What if they’ve recognized her as one of the captive omegas?

The thought sends a chill through me.

I can’t let those bastards get their hands on her again. They’ll break her down and this time, we might not be there to help her.
