“No! Of course, not. I’m only saying that my house may not be the best place to keep the servers.”

“You live alone,” Vaughn says in a cold tone. “You’re not friendly with any of your neighbors which removes the risk of outsiders coming into your house.”

“I’m away during the day, Sir,” Jake says in a pleading tone. “There’d be no one to monitor the servers. What if something goes wrong?”

“They don’t need constant maintenance. It’ll be fine if my technicians visit your house once a week.”

“What if those military guys come after me?” Jake asks in a frustrated voice. “Rory must’ve told them about me by now. My house is at the same risk as yours.”

“They’ll never bother to search your house,” Vaughn says with a dismissive snort. “They’ll try going after the bigger fish. I’m going to be their main target. So, quit your nagging and leave your keys with Morgan.”

A loud scraping noise erupts, sounding like someone’s pushing their chair back.

“But, Sir—”

“Goodbye, Jake.”

“Fucking asshole,” Jake curses hoarsely, unaware that his whispered words are being picked up by the listening device I placed under the table in the entrance hall.

“This is the end of the clip,” the young cadet says.

I nod and look toward Lucas. “I’m glad you didn’t delay in relaying this information to me.”

“I wasn’t fast enough though,” he says, glancing at my injuries.

Getting up from my chair, I walk toward him. “Don’t worry about this,” I tell him, laying a hand on his shoulder. “I’m fine.”

“It was a genius move, Seth,” Simon says with a sincere smile. “Without these bugs, we’d have never known where the Black Widow was hiding all the information about their omega trade.”

“What omega trade?” Lucas asks, staring at him.

“It’s nothing,” I say in a dismissive tone. Apart from a few select senior officials, no one knows about the rescued omegas being sheltered by us. We’ve made sure to maintain secrecy to keep them safe.

“Keep monitoring the senator’s house,” Oliver commands in a grim tone. “I’m sure we’ll get to learn more of their secrets this way.”

Gesturing at my brothers, I signal them to follow me.

“See you around,” Simon says, patting the young cadet on his shoulder before walking toward me.

My brothers and I stay silent as we walk out of the surveillance office.

“What’re you thinking about?” Oliver asks when we’ve reached my parked truck.

“We need to get our own spies to watch the senator and his lackeys,” I say, turning around to face my brothers.

“Should we intercept the bastards while they’re transferring those servers?” Simon says.

“I want to take a risk and allow them to make the transfer,” I say in a grim tone. “This way, we’ll get Jake tangled up with Vaughn and the Black Widow. He’s been a slick weasel, making sure he never gets involved in any of these crimes. I can’t let him keep getting away with everything.”

“So, how do you plan on seeing this through?” Oliver asks, staring at me with a grim look on his face.

“We’ll send out drones to take video evidence,” I tell them as a plan forms in my mind. “Vaughn and Jake will have no idea that we’re keeping an eye on them. Let them make the transfer and think they’re being smart about it. This will make them reveal more of their secrets to us.”

“How do we get our hands on those servers?” Simon asks, looking concerned. “That’s the stuff that’ll give us the information on all the traitors involved with the omega trade.”

“We can’t let them know we’re onto them,” I say in a strict tone. “We’ll lose vital evidence if they end up destroying those servers. For now, I want them to safely transfer the servers to Jake’s house. We’ll figure out a way to get them once they’re out of Vaughn’s mansion. I’m sure it’ll be much easier because Jake’s place won’t have the same security as the senator’s estate.”

My brothers are quiet as they mull over my plan.
