Rosalie:

Jack:

Red.

Shegrinned, thinking of the lacy red bra with tiny white flowers and matching thong she’d packed.Thethong was one of her favorites, with its little heart shape cut out right over her mound.

Rosalie:

Done.Seeyou at nine.

Jackslipped his phone back into his pocket and adjusted his sunglasses.Rosaliewas here, back inGossamerFalls.Justa few hours, and she’d be in his arms again, moaning his name, making him laugh.Makinghim want things he’d given up on long ago.

God, just knowing that she was here, in his town, made him feel antsy, and he unclipped the radio from his shoulder.

“Anythingon the board,Cheryl?” he asked, drumming the fingers of his free hand on the wheel of hisSUV.

“No, sir.Iwon’t jinx us by using the ‘q’ word, but nothing right now.”

“I’mgoing to head out to the falls and meet with the security team for the music video shoot, just make sure they have everything they need.”He’dspoken with them on the phone earlier in the week, and he was going to be working with them during the actual shoot, but he wasn’t scheduled to go out there this afternoon.Buthe knew thatRosaliewould likely be there, which meant it was the only place he wanted to be right now.

“Surething,Chief.”

“Radiome if you need me for anything.”

“Willdo.Enjoythe sunshine.”

Heclipped the radio back to his shoulder and put the cruiser in drive, heading in the direction of the falls.Thesun shone brightly, glinting off of the snow on the side of the road, lifting his mood even more. He’donly made it a block before his phone rang, and when he sawNorah’sname flash on the display, he answered it through theSUV’sBlueToothconnection.

“Hey,Norah,” he said, turning downMainStreet. “What’sup?”

“Hey.I’mstuck at a work thing, andIwon’t be able to getChloeto her piano lesson. She’sgoing to be at the hotel withAutumnafter school, hoping for a glimpse ofCarrieClark.Couldyou pick her up there and take her to her lesson?”

“Sure, no problem,” he said easily. “Doesshe have her music folder with her?”

“Shit.No.I’lltextIanand see if he can leave it in the mailbox on the front porch.Wouldyou mind picking it up?”

“Notat all.I’llswing by and get it before picking upChloefor her piano lesson.Willyou be back in time to get her at 5:30?I’mworking until seven, but if you’re not back,Icould pick her up at 5:30 and take her to my mom’s for dinner.”Technically, this wasNorah’sweek withChloe, but they always did their best to help each other out when life happened, and to leaveChloe’sschedule and routine as uninterrupted as possible.

“Ishould be back, butI’lltext you if that changes.Thanks,Jack.Ireally appreciate it.”

“Nota problem.”

Whenhe pulled into the busy parking lot near the falls, he pulled out his phone to text his sister.

Jack:

Chloe’sgoing to be with you after school at the hotel, right?

Autumn:

Yep.

Jack:

Okay.Norah’sstuck at work, soI’llpick her up for her piano lesson around 4:15.
