"Mommy!" Alexander exclaims, running over to me.
"Alexander." I laugh, kneeling down and scooping him up in my arms, "are you giving your sister a hard time again?"
"No."
"Don't lie."
"Okay, maybe."
"Well, stop it."
"Sorry."
"I have an idea."
"What is it?"
"How about we go see Daddy?" I ask him softly, pulling him into the cradle of my arms, "I think we all would very much like to see him."
Alexander's expression saddens me, looking up at me, "I... I miss him, mommy. Why doesn't he wake up? Does that mean he doesn't love us?"
My heart breaks at that because Onyx loved them more than anything in the world, "no, honey, your daddy loved you more than I can ever tell you. You two are his everything, even if he's not here to tell you that right now."
I took his hand and I went to find Zandria. It's a bit of a walk but we head down to the cave, trying not to worry too much about what's going to happen. When I reach the cave, almost immediately, I know something is wrong. I go incredibly still as I hear a soft growling coming from inside the cave.
"Daddy." Zandria whispers softly.
I nod my head just as he pops his head out, a massive dragon that has slumbered for so long. A part of me worried at the fact that he might have actually lost his memories but I don't want to think about that unless it actually happens. I purse my lips, gazing up at him as I see the coldness in his eyes.
"Onyx?" I asked him softly.
I reach out, gently stroking his snout, letting him scent me. He leans into my touch, making me a bit nervous that he might try to eat me. His body trembles and the next thing I know, I'm looking at my mate. There is a softness on his face that makes my heart stutter a little bit. He moves closer, looking down at our children.
"Hannah." He whispers hoarsely, "Alexander... Zandria... You're home."
Our children rush into his arms, crying. I'm fighting back my own tears as I move closer, wrapping my arms around him. His lips eagerly seek mine, making my heart pound in my chest. Everything is just so perfect right now, I don't want anything to change.
I'm his mate and he is mine...
I'm never going to let him go again. We're going to rule this mountain...
And I'm going to love him till the end of time.
