My family will have to know about this. I'm sure they will worry when I don't come back, but it is just a matter of getting back down the mountain without anyone noticing me. I already know my parents will flip out if they found out that I laid with a dragon so should I even tell them? I keep going back and forth on it because my biggest worry is that I'm going to end up doing something and living with all the regrets. I guess I could just come back to find him if I have to.
The minute I reach the village though, I know immediately that something is wrong. My lips parted in surprise and horror when I saw the burnt-down buildings and the bodies of dead villagers. People that I know. I immediately rush towards my house, praying that my parents are okay.
I'm sickened by the sight, the bodies of people that I know strewn across the ground. Their houses are burnt down and the snow is stained red with their blood. I can't imagine what would cause something like this. Who would do something so horrible?
That's when I saw my burnt-down home and outside, the mutilated bodies of my parents. My stomach immediately churns with horror as I have no idea what's going on. Did someone come here and do this? Who could be so vile? Who could...
"There you are, Hannah." Karl murmurs coldly, making me whip around and see him and his men standing there, covered in soot and blood, "I've been waiting for you."
"What did you do?!" I demand, feeling sick to my stomach, "Why would you do this?!"
"Because you belong to me." He hisses, taking a step forward.
I shake my head, not wanting to believe him, "No! You can't just do something like this! You are a monster!"
"I told you, Hannah, I will do whatever it takes to make you mine." He promises me coldly.
"This isn't love!" I scream, "This is pure evil! You killed everyone in the village and my parents because you are insecure?! What is wrong with you?"
"Hannah, my love." He says calmly, his tone chilling, "You need to settle down. Everything will be alright, once you come with me. I will take good care of you."
"How can I believe a word that comes out of your mouth? You're a murderer." I snap at him, feeling my entire body filling with nerves that threaten to explode.
"I'm not the only one." He says darkly, pointing at the mountain, "The dragon did this too. They were working together."
My eyes widen, and I glance back at the mountain, feeling a stab in my chest.
"That can't be." I say softly, "I saw the dragon."
"Are you sure?" He questions me.
"He... He was different from the stories." I say softly, looking away.
Karl's expression darkens, "you mean he fucked you?"
My entire body freezes. "What did you say?"
"Did he fuck you, Hannah?" He demands, taking another step closer.
I'm not sure what to say because I know that Karl is a dangerous man.
"Did you lay with him, Hannah?" He demands again.
"It doesn't matter!" I cry out, trying not to show him how nervous I am, "what you did is unforgivable. I will never forgive you for what you have done to my family. To my village. There's no excuse for this and you're a monster."
"So, he did." Karl says coldly, his gaze darkening, "You laid with him, a dragon shifter. The creature of our nightmares. The creature that has ruined our world. You slept with him. Did you love him?"
"How can I love a creature that I don't even know?" I demand, shaking my head, "No, Karl. I didn't. You are the one that has been after me for months. You're the one that has threatened my family. You have caused all of this pain."
"If I can't have you, Hannah, then no one can." He says coldly, "kill her."
"Wait, what?" I cry out, feeling sick as I watch the men coming closer to me.
"You heard me." Karl snarls, his voice dripping with anger, "You are not leaving here alive."
I don't even think about running. I have nowhere to go. I have no chance of getting away from them, and my parents are dead.
"You're a monster." I hiss, taking a step back.
