He whispers, “We aren’t supposed to do anything more than kiss until we get married.”

“Wh—” I don’t get the word out before his lips touch mine and he brands me with a kiss that chases all thoughts from my mind. I clutch at his massive biceps to keep from falling. Not that I would go anywhere, though, because Ryan has slid an arm around my waist and threaded his fingers through my hair to cradle my head as he explores my mouth with his tongue. Maybe it’s our compatibility score, but I never want this to end.

When Ryan finally breaks away, I’m sure I’m drunk from the kiss. Ryan rubs his lower lip with his thumb and licks it as if he’s getting every last drop of me. I smile. He must be just as affected by the kiss as I was.

My voice is thick when I say, “That was some first kiss.”

His eyes twinkle. “Best one yet.”

I grin at him. “It wasn’t bad.”

“Not bad?” Ryan yanks me tight against his body to crush his mouth to mine again, making me squeal. This time, he doesn’t stop until I’m trembling with blinding need.

A small whimper escapes my lips. “Okay, that was the best kiss ever. Can I have more?”

“So much more,” Ryan says, his voice husky. He steps back and tugs at his pant legs in what appears like an attempt to regain composure. “But we have to get married first.”

“Right.” I’d almost forgotten that. Then I recall Mrs. Chadwick saying something about Ryan’s things being delivered. I frown at him. “What did the chaperone mean when she said your things would be arriving later?”

Ryan narrows his eyes. “Because I’m moving in.”

Shocked, I blink. My instincts were right. This guy thinks he can control me. I cross my arms and glare at Ryan, holding back the words I would really like to use and saying instead, “That’s pretty presumptuous for our first date, don’t you think?”

He shrugs. “I’m just following the rules.” He flashes me a toothy smile. “One bedroom?”

I sigh. Abby must have left the “moving in” part of the deal out to keep me from bailing on the situation. I should be more upset, but the idea of Ryan in my bed is a good one. Besides, I agreed to this whole thing with the impulsive first move that matched us up.

I sweep my arm out. “Welcome to your new home.”

I watch as Ryan surveys the surroundings. He walks over to the kitchen area and stops at the window over the sink, which displays a sliver of an ocean view between the trees. Then he begins to unbutton his shirt.

“The place is nice.” He turns to face me as he continues to work his buttons. “What time do you go to work in the morning?”

I can’t stop watching his strong fingers, imagining the things they’ll do to me. “Um.” I blow out a slow breath as I try to focus on the question. “I don’t. I work from home. I’m the marketing director for a tea company that is completely online.” I pause, watching Ryan work on the last button. “What are you doing?”

“Getting comfortable.” A half-naked Ryan walks toward the couch, tossing his shirt so it lands lightly on one cushion. “I run hot, and it’s entirely too warm in here for me to be wearing a shirt.”

I take in the bare chest of the man in front of me, distracted for a moment, then I decide that clothing on Ryan is definitely overrated. “I can turn the heat down.”

He chuckles. “Or the AC up?”

“That too.” My cheeks flush with heat. It’s the beginning of summer, which isn’t helping. “If I had it.”

“I’ll manage.” The buckle of his belt rattles as he undoes it. “I’ll acclimate.”

Whoa. “Acclimate. Uh-huh.” I can’t help but watch as he unzips his pants, and when my chest aches, I realize I’m holding my breath. I’m not sure if I’m relieved or disappointed when he removes his jeans and reveals a pair of boxer briefs.

A sudden surge of heat makes me flap my shirt. “You should keep those on.” My voice shakes.

Ryan grins at me. “I can do that.”

The man’s body is nearly perfect, and I resist the urge to reach out and touch him to make sure he’s real. “I’ll get the fan from my bedroom. You just stay there.” I chuckle. “And look hot.”

Despite my orders, he follows me into the room and leans in close to help get the fan out of the window. “I’m more than a hot body, you know.”

It’s true. Ryan’s a computer programmer, according to the rest of his profile, which I decided to read after we matched. “Brains and brawn. Lucky me.”

Ryan moves his arm around my waist, and the heat of his skin infuses me, strengthening my desire. He takes a deep breath in through his nose, closing his eyes before he lets it out slowly.
