“No cry, Mama,” he says, giving me another kiss.

“No more tears, baby boy. Go have fun with Daddy and I’ll see you in a little while. We’ll have dinner with Pops and Mimi,” I tell him, handing him back over to Anthony.

Anthony just looks at me for a few minutes before turning and walking through the back of the shop with the boys. My entire world is walking away from me and I can’t do anything to stop it from happening. The second I hear the back door close behind them, I break. Sinking to the floor next to a stack of boxes, I let the tears flow freely and sob uncontrollably.

I’ve been in the shop working for hours and have just finished taking the inventory. My phone stops playing the music as it begins to ring. Walking to the counter, I pick it up to see my dad’s name flashing on the screen.

“Hey, Dad,” I answer the phone and try to sound cheerful.

“Hey, baby girl. Where are you?” he returns with a soft voice.

“I’m at the shop.”

“We’ll meet you there. We’ve already got my truck and Glock’s loaded up with furniture and other shit. You can take us to the trailer to unload it and then we’ll go get your stuff from the house. Where are the boys?”

“Anthony has them. He stopped in the shop earlier and took them with him when he left. Said I could call when we were done and either you could pick them up or we could meet up somewhere so I can get them and take them home,” I answer him, my voice breaking once again.

“Okay. We’ll be there in about ten minutes. The shop is right in town?”

“Yeah. I’m parked out back. I’ll pull around front so we can go right to the trailer. You’ll pass it on your way into town.”

“Okay, baby girl. I’ll see you soon. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

I walk through the shop and make sure everything is turned off and that the doors are all locked up. Before walking out the back door, I set the alarm and close the door. I have seconds to get it locked before the alarm goes off and alerts Goose. That’s the last thing I want so I quickly lock the handle and deadbolt. Keeping my keys out, I get in the SUV and pull around to the front of my shop. It’s not long before I see my dad’s truck. He pulls in behind me and gets out of the driver’s side. Getting out of the SUV, I rush to my dad as he pulls me into his arms. I barely hear another door shut before another set of arms are wrapped around me. Glock has joined us.

“I’m so sorry, baby girl. I’m here for you and will stay as long as you need me to,” my dad says, kissing the top of my head like he used to when I was a little girl.

“My boy needs a fuckin’ wakeup call and we’re gonna deliver it,” Glock adds in, his voice washing over me in a protective coat.

“You don’t need to do that, guys. Anthony and I will work this shit out when we’re ready,” I say, not wanting Glock and my dad to beat his ass.

“Yeah, we do. I don’t know what the fuck is wrong with him, but he’s got somethin’ up his ass,” Glock says as they both pull away from me. “Now, let’s get this first load taken care of so we can head to the house. I wanna spend time with the boys and you while we’re not movin’ shit all over the place. Like your dad said, I’m here for however long you need me. Grim knows not to expect us back anytime soon.”

“Thank you. I’m ready when you are,” I answer, my voice staying strong despite the emotions flooding me right now.

We all get back in our vehicles and I lead them to the trailer. My dad backs his truck in first as Glock parks so he’s not blocking anyone else getting in or out of the driveway for all the trailers. They get busy taking in the new furniture they bought me and put it where I want it. My mom and Melody help me put everything else away. They bought me everything I need for the kitchen, the bathrooms, and a ton of food they stopped to get on the way here. I have music playing as we all work to get this stuff put away while the guys make sure all of my furniture is where I want it. Once they’re done, we’ll head to the house to get the boxes I have there. I’m ready but this isn’t what I want to be doing right now. I want to be with Anthony, but that’s not possible right now.

We work quickly and make sure everything is set up before heading to the house. Once there, Glock and my dad are pissed at how little I’m taking from Anthony. I’m literally leaving everything behind with a few exceptions. I’ve packed up half the boys’ toys, most of their clothing, all of my clothing and personal items, and not much else. It doesn’t take my dad and Glock very long to load the boxes I’ve been packing into the trucks before we head back out and to the trailer. The five of us make quick work of unloading everything before I send a message to Anthony letting him know we’re done.

Anthony agrees to meet me at the diner to give me the boys. Agreeing, I let everyone know I’ll be right back and head out to get Griffin and Andrew. My dad lets me know he’s gonna order some pizza and shit for us for dinner as Glock works on getting my TV set up. I’ve already got the internet and shit installed so he makes sure it’s all working properly as I leave. I’m not sure what my mom and Melody are doing, but I’m sure they’re in the boys’ room. That’s where they were a little while ago.

Pulling into the parking lot of the diner, I see Anthony’s truck and park next to him. He gets out of the driver’s seat and opens the back door to get the boys out. Getting out of my car, I realize this is how my life is going to be from now on. The boys going back and forth between Anthony and me while we do pickup and drop off somewhere in town. This shit fucking sucks and it’s not what I want. However, I can’t make Anthony remain in love with me and I’m not going to force him to be with me when he doesn’t want to. It’s only going to make our situation worse and the boys will be the ones to suffer for it.

“I didn’t feed them dinner since you said you wanted to have dinner with our parents. Did you get everythin’ done you wanted to today?” he asks me, his voice wavering as he helps me get the boys in the SUV.

“Yeah. Um, here’s the key for the house. I’ve left almost everything there for you and it’s clean. We didn’t make a mess or trash anything inside. Um, I changed the sheets on the bed this morning before I left and everything I was using has been washed and put away. You’ll have to check the food in the refrigerator. I didn’t get to go through that. There’s a few things you might need to throw away,” I tell him after we’ve closed the doors on the boys so they can’t hear.

“I didn’t think you’d trash the house, Kasey. I’ll go through everythin’ in the fridge. I’m sorry this shit is happenin’. I’ll give you a few days and we’ll set somethin’ up so we can talk. I’ll be at the clubhouse or work if you need anythin’, just call or send a message. The only time I won’t answer is if I’m workin’ or on club business. Kasey, you don’t have to cut the club out of your life. They’ll be there for you no matter what,” Anthony says, stepping closer to me and starting to reach his hand out toward my face.

“Okay. I’ll see you sometime. If you want the boys, just let me know and we’ll make arrangements,” I tell him, getting in the SUV as he watches me.

Anthony doesn’t make a move to get in his truck until I’m out of the parking lot and driving down the road with the boys. I keep my attention on the road in front of me while looking in the rearview mirror at Anthony as he hangs his head and finally makes his way over to get back in his truck. While I drive one way, he pulls out and heads back toward the clubhouse. Our lives going in two completely different directions and away from one another. Tears fall down my face as the boys tell me all about what they did with their daddy today. About how they played with the other kids at the clubhouse and how Aunt Quinn made them lunch and dessert.

Pulling back into the trailer park, I park in my spot as the door opens and my dad and Glock make their way down the steps. While Glock starts to get the boys out of the SUV, my dad helps me out and holds me in his arms again. I cry while resting my head against his shoulder as he rocks me gently back and forth. My mom soon joins us as she pulls me into her arms and holds me close. Keegan might not be my birth mother, but she’s the only mom I’ve ever had and I love her for how she’s always been there for me.

“I’m okay,” I finally manage to mumble as I step back and wipe my tears away.
