Note to self. Max was a lightweight.

In the future, one glass would probably be his limit. His inhibitions definitely started to drop with the second glass, and the third was going to haunt him in the morning.

When I pulled up to his apartment, I placed my hand on his thigh and gave him a gentle squeeze. “Wakey, wakey, sunshine. You’re home.”

It took him a second to shake off the sleep and look around. “James? You’re here?”

“I am here. Now we’ve got to get you inside.” I climbed out and helped Max make the trek to his apartment. I wasn’t sure he even had his eyes open most of the time as he shuffled beside me, handing me his keys so I could open the door once we got to it.

I kicked off my shoes by his front door and instructed Max to do the same. He did it without opening his eyes or letting go of me.

The joy I’d almost forgotten about from taking care of somebody in their most vulnerable moments filled me up and reminded me of how much I’d been missing.

That was what I wanted.

Having a boy like Max who completely trusted me felt so damn good. It also made me realize that he could’ve just as easily been putting his trust in someone who didn’t deserve it. Someone like that asshole from the other night.

But neither of us had to worry about that anymore, because now, he had me. Even if he didn’t completely remember it in the morning, he’d all but claimed me in the restaurant.

“I have to pee.” Max swayed as he stood in place.

“Okay, then.” I walked him down the hallway and through the first open door we came to. “Are you fine to stand or do you need some help?”

He finally opened his eyes and looked up at me. “Brayden said Daddies like to help.”

I wasn’t sure how I felt about all of Brayden’s advice, but this part was going to be interesting. “If I stand behind you and hold you up, can you…aim?”

Max giggled and nodded. “I think so. Let’s try that.”

And so we did. For someone who insisted he wasn’t a Little, Max sure liked to be coddled.

And I definitely liked coddling him.

When he was done, he tucked himself back into his underwear, but left his jeans unzipped. Then he just leaned against me and let me flush and scoot him over to the sink.

“Hands out.”

He held out his hands, and I turned on the water, waiting as he briefly rinsed them off.

“And teeth.”

He popped one eye open and looked at me through the mirror. “Can I skip my teeth tonight? I have good breath. Like grapes and chocolate.” He huffed out a breath over his shoulder, close to my face. “See.”

I smiled and gave his side a light pinch. “Delicious, but you still need to get the sugar off your teeth before you go to sleep, sweetheart. Where’s your toothbrush?”

Still leaning against my chest, he pulled open the top drawer in the vanity and brought out a toothbrush and toothpaste. “Fine, but you have to do it.”

This was even more fun than I expected. For the next few minutes, I helped Max brush his teeth and then took him into his room and undressed him to his boxers.

“Do you have something special you want to sleep in or just like this?”

He splayed his hand over his belly and then slipped it inside his boxers, cupping his balls as he sighed. “This is good. I don't wear footie pajamas like a baby.”

“Of course you don't.” I pulled back the covers on one side of the bed and patted the pillow for him to slide in. “You climb in, and I'll get you some water and aspirin. You're gonna need it.”

“Not as much as I need you,” he said softly, actually quiet enough that I almost didn't hear him.

After I tucked the covers around his body, I went into his kitchen and found a water bottle in his pantry and a bottle of aspirin. I shook four caplets into my palm, intending to have him take two before he fell asleep and two in the morning when he woke up.
