“Yes, ma’am,” he said.

With another soft growl, his nan returned to the living room.

“Why do I keep getting cock blocked by old people?” Boone’s plaintive tone made Hedra giggle again. “What god have I pissed off?”

She patted his shoulder. “Come on, I’ll help you make dinner. It’ll be fun.”

“Yeah, because that’s so much better than being balls deep in your perfect pussy,” Boone said morosely.

She laughed, even as her pussy clenched tight at the mental image his words brought on. Knowing she would regret it tomorrow but too damn horny to care, she said, “Play your cards right, and maybe I’ll invite you to my room for something other than a baking show tonight.”

His soft and sexy growl turned her pussy into a damn waterfall. He leaned forward and gave the base of her throat a light nip before breathing into her ear, “You invite me to your bed tonight, and I’ll insist on tasting that pretty pussy of yours, little lamb.”

She released a shuddering breath as hot desire slammed into her. “Well, if you insist.”

“I’m completely serious,” Hedra grinned at him as she chopped the broccoli. “Chase has a fear of amphibians. It’s called batrachophobia.”

“That’s not a thing,” Boone checked the pork loin’s temperature before shutting the oven door. “About another five minutes, I think.”

“It’s a real phobia,” Hedra said. “I swear.”

“I’m Googling it,” Boone said, reaching for his phone in his pocket. “Shit, I left my phone in my room.”

“Use mine,” Hedra pointed with her chin at the table. “Password is 1234.”

“That is a terrible password, Hedra,” Boone said as he grabbed her phone and punched it in.

“Tell me about it,” she said cheerfully as she dumped the broccoli into the pot of cold water before turning on the burner.

“You need to change it,” Boone said as Hedra’s phone dinged. He glanced at the screen, and his tiger growled in alarm.

“What’s wrong?” Hedra glanced at him.

“You just got a text message,” Boone said.

“Okay,” she said.

He brought her phone to her, and she opened the text. He hovered over her shoulder, staring at the message, his tiger growling continuously.

You’ll pay for what you’ve done.

Hedra’s face went white, and he could smell her anxiety and her stress. He watched in disbelief as Hedra, her fingers trembling, blocked the unknown number before handing her phone back to Boone. She grabbed plates from the cupboard as Boone said, “Hedra, what the fuck was that?”

She just shrugged, keeping her face pointed away from him. “Wrong number.”

Her voice sounded completely normal, and he might have believed her if he couldn’t smell her anxiety.

“Hedra, is there someone angry with you?”

“Of course not.” She pushed past him and set the plates on the table. Her body nearly vibrated, and she frowned at him when he took her arm gently and turned her to face him.

She sighed. “What, Boone?”

“What is going on?” he asked.

“Nothing,” she said. “It was the wrong number.”
