“I. Will. Speak to you when you are sober.”

No.

“If you have the balls to treat me as if I’m beneath you, then at least have the goddamn decency to tell me why!”

Vada didn’t even register the phone being ripped from her hand and an arm folding around her back, pulling her in for a tight, comforting hug. It was a strange shift in her body and emotions. Vada went from screaming at her mother, something she’d never done before, to collapsing in Trista’s arms and gasping for a breath.

It was too much. All of it.

“Why can’t she just tell me why?” Her breathing shallowed, and her tears streamed uncontrollably. It was as if she’d lost complete control, and her pain had taken over. Her heart tightened, and her stomach rolled. Without thinking, she pulled out of Trista’s hold. She was too hot, and she yanked at the collar of her shirt. “I don’t feel so good.”

“Breathe, Vada.” Phoebe wrapped her arm over Vada’s shoulder. “Just breathe.”

Bailey hooked her thumb over her shoulder, pointing to the clubhouse. “Should I get Hades?”

I don’t want him to see me like this.

Simultaneously, Trista and Phoebe answered, “No.”

Phoebe rubbed Vada’s back, holding her close to her side. “She needs time to settle. Bailey, go inside and tell Hades we’ve moved the party to my house. And tell Kase it’s girls only, so he needs to stay at the clubhouse tonight.”

Macy snorted. “How do you think he’s going to take that?”

“I don’t give a shit.”

Bailey nodded and turned, rushing into the clubhouse. Vada wasn’t sure how she made it across the lot and yard to Phoebe’s, but she had, with all the women close behind her.

****

Hades and the members retired to the back room an hour ago. The women were having their fun. Hades checked his phone for the time. He’d give Vada another thirty minutes. He was eager to get his woman in their bed and have her make do with her promises. It was rare they ever got the house to themselves, and Hades was going to take full advantage of their alone time.

“You really gave the women free reign over the clubhouse for wedding prep, huh?” The taunting in Caden’s tone was evident.

It’d been a sensitive topic for Kase. In the past, he’d allowed a few non-club events for the brothers, the last being a baby shower for Saint and Trax’s women. He’d vowed it would be the last. Then Vada, armed with Phoebe by her side, approached him about their wedding. Nothing surprised Hades more than when Kase actually agreed. Phoebe definitely had something to do with it.

“Not fucking free reign.”

Gage laughed and jerked his chin. “Brother, it’s a good thing. Means we don’t have to sit in some stuffy hall wearing suits.”

“Fuck off, Gage,” Rourke snapped and rolled his eyes. The comment was directed at Kase, but everyone knew whose wedding Gage was referring to. It hadn’t been his idea, but Macy and her mother had gone over the top with their wedding. So many fucking flowers. It smelled more like a funeral home rather than a wedding venue. Macy insisted on a dress code that didn’t include jeans or leather. All the brothers had complained, but Rourke got everyone in line. And dressed in fucking suits.

“Yeah, motherfucker, we’ll all be in jeans, and your ass will still be in a fucking suit,” Kase said, eyeing Gage.

As far as Hades knew, Vada had made it known that the only people who had to adhere to any type of dress code were him, Saint as his best man, and Trista as her maid of honor. He assumed the women would dress up, but he knew all the members intended to take full advantage of the casual attire dress code.

Gage jerked his head to Hades. “What the fuck is he talking about? Tris said just you and Saint were wearing suits. Just the wedding party or some shit like that.”

Kase arched his brow. “Yeah, asshole. Walking her down the aisle means you’re part of that.”

What? It was Hades’ turn to be completely confused and caught off guard. Vada had mentioned her father doing it but never mentioned having a backup replacement. Hades wasn’t deep into any of the planning, but surely she would’ve mentioned it to him.

Hades furrowed his brows. “Vada asked you to walk her down the aisle?”

Gage shook his head, darting his gaze between him and Kase. “No. I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about, Kase.”

“She told me the other day. Ran into her in front of the store. Said she was on her way to see you at the yard.”

Hades didn’t even know she’d stopped by the junkyard.
