Of course, she did.

Hades smirked. “Yeah.”

He waited, expecting Vada to pull out a slip of paper or her phone to read from. No, not his woman. She threaded her fingers through his and stared up at him.

“I promise to love you and be your biggest supporter in everything and anything you want to do. I promise to remind you, when needed, what an amazing, strong father, husband, and man you are. I will stand by your side no matter what life throws at us. I’ll be there. For you.” Vada drew in a breath. “And when I can’t figure out what you’re thinking, I promise to continue trying. I will show you unconditional love, patience, understanding, and acceptance. I’ll always encourage you to be who you are and make our life so you always know you’re safe with me.” Vada gulped. “I promise to give you all these things that you’ve already given me.”

All these things you’ve already given me.

Hades wasn’t one for words. But? He had something to say. A vow of his own. But it was for her only.

“I don’t deserve you.” Hades brushed his lips against her ear. “But I’m gonna spend the rest of my fucking life earning you.”

And he would.

When Vada angled her head, Hades didn’t hesitate. He was done waiting.

He cupped her jaw and kissed his wife.

Chapter Fourteen

While Vada had a lot of traditional aspects to her wedding, there was one she’d opted out of, much to the disappointment of Jill, the wedding coordinator. A receiving line had good intentions. It was a way to see every guest and thank them for coming. It was also time-consuming, and she had little faith that most of the members of the Riders would be willing to stand in line. Besides, this was their clubhouse. Kase had already been extremely generous. Vada wouldn’t push her luck and make him wait in line. Definitely not.

As soon as the pastor pronounced them husband and wife, they shared a kiss, and everyone cheered. It was so cliché, yet so damn perfect. Then, they broke away from tradition. Vada and Hades took a few minutes with Allie, Saint, Trista, and a few others who came up. Most mingled in the yard, and a large group went inside. She couldn’t blame them. After all, it was an open bar.

“Mrs. Monroe.” Trista pulled her in for a hug, squeezing her tightly. “Congratulations.”

Mrs. Monroe.

Vada couldn’t contain her smile. She had a feeling her face would be sore tomorrow. It would be worth it. Trista stepped back, and a few of the women gathered beside her. There were well wishes and chatter. And she soaked it all in.

“Do you want to take a breather with Hades and Allie? Or should we get this party started?” Phoebe asked.

If she knew her husband, and she did, he was seconds from ripping off his jacket and having a drink. Allie had already taken off with Emme and some of the other children. There’d be plenty of time for moments, just for their family. A lifetime of them. But for now?

“Party.” Vada lifted her arms above her head and waved her bouquet.

Hades wrapped his arm around her waist, pulled her against his chest, and kissed her. Even with a crowd of people around them, Vada gave in to the kiss, throwing her arms over his shoulders. This was hands down the best day of her life.

“We’re onto the reception, and you two are skipping it, going straight to the honeymoon,” Gage said.

Everyone laughed, and even Hades smiled, breaking their kiss. He clasped her hand and led her down the aisle. Most people had meandered inside, with only a few in the yard. A group of East members were gathered at the edge of the yard smoking. Grain, as usual, was taking center stage. He always waved his hands when he talked, but he was a bit more theatrical at the moment. His arm swung to the side, knocking into an older woman’s arm.

He quickly turned and grabbed the woman’s hand. Vada was too far away to hear, but she assumed he was offering an apology. When the woman turned and smiled, Vada grinned. If ever there was a woman to forgive an accident, it was her Aunt Gloria. Without thinking, she glanced down at her bracelet. She’d wanted to call her aunt and thank her, but time was limited.

Now was the perfect time. She raised her hand and was just about to call for her aunt when another woman sidled up next to her. Vada’s jaw dropped, watching as they moved toward the back door. Vada’s stomach dropped, and her heart skipped. Was that…?

Hades looped his arm around her waist, resting his hand on her stomach. “You okay?”

It was as if she was paralyzed and couldn’t speak. Everything in her body was rushing at rapid speed, yet she was somehow frozen.

“Baby?” Hades whispered.

His voice snapped her out of her haze, but her eyes remained pinned on the back door.

“My mom is here.” Vada slowly turned to Hades. He didn’t seem to share the same shock as her.

“Yeah.”
