Joe sighed. “Yeah, I know.”

“Then why are you playing it again?”

Rose smiled, pointing over Vada’s shoulder. “This was a special request.”

Vada spun around, looking over the empty dance floor. Almost empty. Hades stood in the center, staring back at her. He curled his finger, calling to her.

Vada wasn’t sure how many people were watching. She was completely blinded to everyone else and consumed with only Hades. It was as if it were just the two of them. She quickened her steps, and when she was a foot away, he held out his hand. She slid her palm across his and clasped their hands together. He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer, and she slid her hand over his bicep. Hades brought their clasped hands between them, resting against his chest. She peeked up at him as their bodies swayed in sync. His gaze softened, and his hold tightened.

Vada had given up on the idea of dancing with Hades at the wedding. He’d gone along with every other request she’d had. This was what marriage was about…compromise. They didn’t need a dance to make this their song. It wouldn’t make a difference. But…it did. This right here. With her emotions all over the place the entire day, it was an odd sensation to be completely at ease in his arms.

As the song came to a close, she was wishing for a few more minutes. There was no telling if she’d ever get him on the dance floor again. It didn’t matter because she’d always have this moment. A memory she’d lock away forever.

It wasn’t until the music changed that she realized everyone had been watching them. Hades wrapped his arm over her shoulders, and she curled into his side as they walked off the dance floor.

“I thought you didn’t dance.”

The corner of his mouth curled. “Yeah, well, it looks like there isn’t anything I won’t do for you.”

I love you.

Chapter Sixteen

It was well after midnight, but the party was still going strong, showing no signs of ending anytime soon. Most of the older guests had already headed home. Meg had offered to take Allie and Emme for the night and had left about fifteen minutes earlier.

Vada had finally eaten at the insistence of Hades. Trista had been on her all night to sit and take a breather, but Vada didn’t want to miss anything. Her best friend must have informed her husband because she was summoned to the bar, and there was a plate of food waiting for her. Hades gave her strict instructions.

“Do not move your ass from this bar until you’ve eaten.” He narrowed his gaze. “All of it.”

Begrudgingly, she did. But once she started, she realized how hungry she’d been and cleaned her plate within ten minutes. She was just taking her last bite and scanning the room for Hades. Gunner had called him to the table for a round of shots.

“Hey, sweetheart.” Dobbs slid up next to her at the bar.

“Are you having fun?”

Dobbs grabbed his beer on the bar, chugged half, and smirked as he glanced around the room. “Best fucking party I’ve ever been to.”

Vada nudged her shoulder into his side, getting a chuckle from the brother. “You’re lying.”

Dobbs sobered and shook his head. “No. You got all the Riders here, and East showed up. I’m thinking this is the first time we got the whole club and old ladies back together, partying, like old times. We’re all gonna to remember this one.”

As she glanced around the room, a bubbling warmth built up in her chest. This was special. Not just for her and Hades. For all of them.

“So, I didn’t give you my present yet,” Dobbs said, and she turned back, furrowing her brows.

“Yes, you did. Ivy had me come in last week to pick out a piece of art.” She rested her hand on her chest. “It’s the one with the iron frame that looks like a door. It’s so amazing.”

Dobbs smiled with pride. “Yeah, that’s one of my favorites.”

Vada smiled. She’d offered to pay something toward it, but Ivy had refused.

“See? So, we got our gift already.”

Dobbs shook his head and smirked. There was a devilish grin reaching his eyes as he sipped his beer.

“That gift was from Ivy. Now, I’m gonna give you mine.”

It seemed strange Dobbs would be so insistent on giving them a separate gift. It was usually customary for a couple to give a gift together. Dobbs had her intrigued.
