“Jeez, Mace.” Cheyenne couldn’t hold back. The question seemed quite invasive.

Nadia and Meg burst out laughing.

“What? She said she was an open book.”

“It’s fine, Chey. I don’t care,” Nadia said and then leaned on the bar. “They were my second favorite. Wanna guess who’s my number one?”

Meg piped in. “Kase.”

She shook her head. “Nope.”

“Really?”

She shrugged. “Don’t get me wrong, Kase is a hell of a good time, but he’s not my favorite.”

Macy glanced around the room with an eager smile. It was fun to watch her get so hyped about anything. Recently, she had been in a funk since her break up, and her job wasn’t faring so well. She deserved better than the hand she’d been dealt.

Macy smirked as her gaze wandered the room. She shifted her gaze, and her lips pulled down into a frown. Chey looked over to where she gazed. At the pool table, and mainly at Trax. She slowly spun around and remained quiet. Of course, she knew Trax and Nadia had been together, and as much as she wished they hadn’t, she couldn’t fault either one. It was long before Cheyenne met Trax, and he did have a life before her, and so did she. Holding a grudge for something that had happened before they got together was unfair.

She drew in a breath and grabbed Macy’s beer, taking a sip. No one said a word.

“Hey, bitch, get your own beer,” Macy teased. Cheyenne glanced over and could see what she was doing, her best to change the subject and get her mind off Nadia and Trax.

“Here, Chey.” Nadia placed a fresh bottle in front of her.

“Thanks,” she muttered. It shouldn’t bother her, but it was grating on her.

“So, I saw ya looking at him, Macy. Not impressed with my number one, huh?” Nadia giggled and started wiping down the counter.

Cheyenne felt the heat rise from her neck to her face. She wouldn’t hold it against Nadia and Trax, but her throwing it in her face was fucked up and completely out of character for the usually sweet Nadia. Cheyenne gripped her beer tightly, and the small group remained silent. Even Meg hadn’t said a word.

“I’m telling ya, he does this thing with his tongue.” She snickered, and Cheyenne immediately glared at her. Enough was enough. Nadia surveyed the girls, losing her smile as she glanced to Meg, then Macy, and finally, Cheyenne. She was seconds from telling her to shut the fuck up about Trax.

Nadia glanced over Cheyenne’s shoulder, her gaze scanning, and then locked in one spot. Her face paled and she gasped. What?

Nadia stepped forward, staring straight at Chey. “Dobbs, that’s who I’m talking about, Chey.”

Cheyenne jerked her head around to see Trax and Dobbs standing next to one another, laughing. He looked up and smiled. She sighed, relief curling up the corner of her mouth. Her face now heated in embarrassment. Of course Nadia wouldn’t talk about her escapades with Trax.

She turned around, but before she could say a word, Nadia leaned into her space. “I would never talk about Trax, Chey. Never.”

Cheyenne forced a smile, but Nadia wasn’t finished.

“I love him ’cause he’s a great guy, always been sweet, and yeah, we have a past, but hold it against me, not him.”

Cheyenne shook her head. “I won’t hold it against either of you, Nadia.”

She smiled and breathed heavily. “Good, ’cause he loves you, and I just wanna see him happy. And you too.” Nadia grabbed her hand, squeezing it tightly. “Hell, I wanna babysit your beautiful babies someday.”

She laughed and relaxed again into conversation. Macy quickly got back on track.

“Dobbs, huh?”

Nadia lifted her brows. “I’m telling ya, Macy. He may not look the type, all muscles and scowls, but you want your toes to curl, come multiple times, and then cuddle all night, Dobbs is your man.”

“Really?” Macy turned around, staring in the direction of the pool table again. But even from a side view, Cheyenne could tell Macy’s gaze wasn’t on Dobbs. No, it was on Rourke.

Interesting.
