Chapter Twenty

“What do ya think?”

She eyed the open property. He’d taken her down Main Street, looped around the valley, and ended at the dirt road in front of the future Ghosttown Riders compound. They weren’t allowed access just yet, but from the road, it looked cool. Completely off the beaten path. Large enough to house all the brothers, even giving Trax a room if needed.

With three months of renovations and a lot of manpower from the club, they’d move in sooner than expected. Trax and Cheyenne had talked about moving to Ghosttown, but not in much depth. They still hadn’t decided exactly where they would live. And taking up residency in the clubhouse was out of the question. They needed their space.

For now, they spent most of their time at his house in Blacksburg, and on occasion, her apartment. Things with Macy had changed drastically, and everyone seemed to be getting along.

They traveled back through the Main Street where he pointed out a few available buildings for her shop and then veered right, down a tree-lined street. He parked in front of a vacant lot.

She dismounted and gripped her helmet, taking it off. The street had three other homes with a large separation dividing them.

“The property is an acre and a half. It backs up to wetlands, so no one can build behind us.”

“Us?”

He shrugged and glanced around. “Yeah, I mean, there are a few other homes, so it’s not isolated. We got neighbors but not too close. Close to Main Street. Hell, you could walk if ya wanted.”

“Did you buy the lot?”

He glanced over his shoulder and smirked. “Not yet. I wanted to talk to you first.”

“What about your house?”

He shrugged. “I could sell. Take this piece of land and build one.”

She slowly gazed over the vacant lot. She could almost envision a house sitting center with a large front lawn and an even bigger backyard. Her lips curled when Trax came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.

“Wanna know what I see, Chey?” he whispered into her ear.

She smiled and nodded.

Trax pointed to the open space. “Two-story house…”

“With a porch?”

Trax snickered. “Yeah, a wraparound porch. We can do a garage, and then a second one in the back for my repairs. If Rourke decides to move up here, I could probably rent space in his shop, but still want a second garage.” He stepped forward. “We could fence in the yard if ya want. Ya know, it’s safer.”

“Safer?”

“For kids, down the road.”

Kids with Trax. The thought crossed her mind more than it should. She’d never spent so much time thinking of the future with any past boyfriends, but with him? It all felt right. It didn’t feel like something that could happen. It was something that would happen down the road. She turned in his arms, and he yanked her into his chest. He rested his forehead against hers, and she smiled.

“You’re making a lot of promises, Trax.”

“And I’ll keep ’em all, Chey.”

She pressed her lips against his and whispered, “I love you.”

“You better. I’m building you a fucking house.”

She laughed, slapping his stomach. His chest rumbled against her cheek. He cupped her jaw and lifted her gaze to meet his. He stared into her eyes, and she waited for him to say something, but he remained silent. She curled her hand around his hip and squeezed.

“What?” she whispered.

“Just wanna see those eyes.”
