Breathe, just breathe.

“Here you go, sweetie.”

Cheyenne opened her eyes to see the waitress at the small table, placing the mug down and smiling. Cheyenne started to smile, but her gaze shifted over the woman’s shoulder. Trax stood between the doorframe, staring down at her. Two deep lines embedded his forehead, and his jaw squared.

She shot up to her feet. “Are you serious? Oh, my God, you let him in?”

The waitress looked confused, shifting her attention between Cheyenne and Trax. “He can help you. That guy chasing you won’t step foot near this place knowing Trax is here.”

Cheyenne balled her hands and pointed over the waitress’s shoulder. “He’s the one chasing me.”

“What?” She jerked her head to Trax. He continued to stare at Cheyenne. “Is that true?”

His gaze never faltered from her. “No.”

Cheyenne gritted her teeth.

“Deb, give us a minute here.”

Cheyenne’s eyes widened when the waitress turned to leave. “Wait, don’t leave me alone with him. Please tell me you at least called the cops for me?”

Deb glanced at Trax and then back to Cheyenne. “Trax told me he’d take care of it.” She slipped past Trax and left.

“You all right?”

Cheyenne glared his way. “No, I’m not all right. Christ, do you have everyone on your payroll?”

He shrugged, leaning against the frame and folding his arms. “Just about.”

“God, I need to move far, far away.” She paced in a small circle, not giving him a second glance. She totally understood the mindset of a caged animal and the incessant pacing.

“How come you didn’t come to me as soon as you got to the club?”

She snorted. “You looked busy with your hand on some chick’s ass.”

“Nadia.”

She halted and lifted her gaze. “I don’t care what her name is.”

He smirked and cocked his brow. “All right.”

“For the record, you inviting me to your club to hang out is pretty fucked up since you’ve already got a girl. That makes you an asshole, just so you know.”

“She’s not my woman.”

Cheyenne snorted and forced a laugh. “Whatever, it didn’t look like it.”

“We’re close…”

Cheyenne raised her hand. “I don’t care.”

Trax pushed off the wall and ambled forward. “Yeah, you do, otherwise you wouldn’t be saying shit to me right now. Was waiting on you, hanging with her and whole lot of others you seemed to miss. Didn’t have my hand on her ass, and if I did, didn’t notice it. I was waiting on you, Chey. Not interested in anyone else.”

She squinted, eyeing him carefully, and twisted her lips.

“Yeah, I’m sure you are a one-woman kind of man.” She rolled her eyes.

His brows furrowed.
