“You can fucking think what you want. Never touched another woman while I was with Ariel until I caught her fucking cheating on me. Not fucking once.” He sighed, and his jaw tightened. “I don’t know what the fuck you think you saw, but I got nothing going on with anyone but you.” He paused. “So, don’t stand here like you know dick about me, ’cause you don’t.”

Cheyenne dropped her gaze to her feet. Why the hell was she feeling guilty? So what if he’d never cheated? It didn’t make him a saint. But he claimed me as his. Yeah, then he threw you to the wolves. He set her up with his club. No matter what he’d said now didn’t change the fact, when she’d needed him, he hadn’t been there.

She tried her best to hold back her tears, but the night’s events were catching up to her. “You’re right, Trax, I don’t know anything about you. I thought I did, but I don’t have a clue who you are or what you are capable of.” She sniffled. “But I know me. I know that what you did tonight is something I’d never do to anyone.” Tears fell down her face. “You set me up.”

“Chey, I didn’t,” he whispered. “The only way I was letting shit go down tonight was if I was there. Made that clear to the club. Didn’t want you scared.”

She shook her head and wiped her face with her sleeve.

“Never planned for it go down like this.”

Don’t fall for it. It didn’t matter what he intended. All that mattered was how it went down.

“Yeah, well it did.” She sighed, needing for this night to be over. Needing everything with Trax to just be over. “Can I leave or what? ’Cause this whole ‘you and your club holding me in small, dark rooms for interrogation’ is getting old.”

She tightened her grip on her bag, staring down at the floor. Could this night have gone any worse? Probably not. First seeing him with another woman, then being scared shitless by his friends, and then her car was stolen. Her shoulders sagged, and she groaned. “My car.” She said it more to herself than him. She needed her damn car. How was she gonna get to work? She slumped against the wall.

“It’s at the clubhouse.”

What? She jerked her head and straightened her back to stand. “It is? Are you sure?”

He nodded. “Earlier, I told Turks, the guy at the door, to move it to the back when you got there.”

That didn’t make any sense. She swung her bag in front of her and reached in. Her finger looped through the key ring, and she pulled them out. She glanced up, confused. “My keys are right here.”

Trax shifted uncomfortably and folded his arms with a blank stare. “We got a master.”

“Wow, professional car thieves too. Not much you boys can’t do.” She snorted in disgust. “Fine, whatever, I need to call a cab to get it.” She eyed him with a squinty stare. “Don’t follow me.”

His lip twitched. “I’m heading back to the club, so let me give you a ride.”

“No, I’ll call a cab.”

“Don’t trust me?”

“Are you seriously asking me that? Do I look like a fucking moron to you?”

“Babe, you’re getting awfully heated for me asking an innocent question.”

“There’s nothing innocent about you, Trax,” she spewed.

He shrugged and smirked as if he was amused. “Probably not.” He turned and walked to the door. “Come on.”

Oh hell, no!

“I’m not going anywhere with you.” She folded her arms, fully prepared to wait until he left before exiting the small break room.

He snickered when he glanced over his shoulder. She had a sudden urge to punch him in the face. So fucking cocky. She watched him lean out from the room and shout for Deb. The waitress appeared in the doorway next to Trax.

He looked over at Chey and smiled. “Tell her she’s got to leave.”

What? He can’t do that. She shifted her gaze to Deb, who looked extremely uncomfortable and shifted on her feet. The waitress gave her a sympathetic glance and mouthed, “Sorry.”

Every bone in Cheyenne’s body tightened, and her back grew rigid. She could imagine what she must look like to both of them staring back at her. If steam could have shot from her nose and ears, it would have. She didn’t move.

“Deb?”

She cleared her throat. “You have to leave now.” There was a reluctance in her tone.
