“Trax.”

“I can’t change the past. Everything that happened.” He paused. “It happened. In my world, shit gets real, it gets fucked up.” He tilted his head. “It’s messy, sometimes dirty, it’s the life I chose. It’s who I am.” He pushed off the wall but made no move toward her. “Tell me what I gotta do.”

“What?”

“I got my life with the club, and I got you. I don’t wanna give up either.” He shoved his hands into his pockets. “So, tell me what I gotta do to keep ya both.”

What the hell could she say to that? She fumbled with her fingers, unable to answer. Could it be so simple? She would just list her requirements? Hell, what requirements?

“You want me to take you home?”

She flicked her gaze to meet his stare. She shook her head without hesitation.

The corner of his mouth curled again. He was so damn sexy when he did that. Could she really forget all that had happened and move on with him? He cleared his throat and stood, straightening to full height. “Come here.”

Her eyes popped open, and she staggered back slightly. If she went over there, she knew exactly what would happen. She’d go to him, he’d kiss her, and they’d be horizontal in ten seconds flat. Think, think. As bad as she wanted him again, she was getting caught up in all of this. Having sex with him again was a distraction, but it wouldn’t change anything that had happened tonight, and she’d still be left in the same position. Or would she?

Tell me what I gotta do to keep ya both.

“Chey.” He growled and dared her gaze to meet his. “Come here, please.”

Her eye twitched, and she blurted, “You come here.” She didn’t even know where her voice came from.

He stalked toward her and didn’t stop until his chest bumped against hers. His hands gripped her hips, and his neck bent, kissing her without hesitation. This was probably the worst choice, but she kissed him back. How could she not?

She was barely aware of everything around her. The only thought taking up space in her head was him. He kissed her with so much passion and desire she was set to combust. She tangled her arms against his, grasping at his back as he thrust his body against hers, and they fell into the wall. She could barely breathe, but tearing her mouth from his was not an option.

Her back fell flat against the wall as his chest meshed against her. How could she forget everything that had happened? Because he’ll do what it takes to keep you. His admission was a game changer. He wanted to be with her as much as she wanted to be with him. They just needed to find their happy medium.

His tongue swirled against hers, and she moaned a hot breath into his mouth. He groaned and angled his hips, drawing his erection against her core. This would play out like it had against the tree. Or so she thought.

Trax ripped his lips from hers, breathing heavy and resting his forehead against hers.

“I’m sorry.” He panted, and her hands spread across his back, urging him forward, but he remained an inch away. “Need you to forgive me.”

“I do.” She wasn’t sure what she agreed to at that point and didn’t care. She wanted him. She leaned forward, just wanting his lips against hers, but she had to tell him. “Don’t hurt me again, Trax,” she whispered, tucking her chin and avoiding his eyes.

He gripped her jaw in his hand and pulled away, forcing her to look at him.

“I won’t let it happen again.”

Only time would tell if he’d keep that promise. But she was prepared to risk it.

She nodded and moved closer. “Okay.” He held her back.

“Chey, I mean it. What happened? You being scared and alone.” His gaze crossed over her features, and she settled against the wall. “I won’t let it happen again.”

“Trax…” she whispered.

He kissed her lips and then bowed his head. “I’ll protect you. You can trust me, Chey.”

It was then it hit her. This was so much more than sex and passion. He vowed to her. He’d given in to her. That was a game changer in everything she’d thought she knew about him.

“Okay,” she whispered.

He held back and eyed her. “Give me the words. Tell me you trust me to keep you safe. Say it. I gotta hear it.”

“I trust you.”
