“Brother, I don’t fucking know, it was a while ago.”

Gage snarled. “You got no brothers here.”

“Are you fucking serious? All on the word of some fucking slit? She’s lying.”

Kase stood silent, as did all the men. It wasn’t lost on Cheyenne. It was her word against his, and Kase could decide to turn on her at any moment. They all could. She skirted her gaze to Trax, who stared at her.

“I’m not lying,” she mouthed.

He slowly nodded and turned back to the man and stepped forward. “The seventh, Sunday afternoon. I was at the shop working on my rebuild. I remember where I was.” Trax folded his arms. “Now, where the fuck were you?”

The man shifted his gaze across all the men and stammered. “Hades had me doing a run all fucking day. The bitch is lying.”

Kase turned back. “Saint, get Hades.”

“Yeah, get him, he’ll tell ya.”

She had no idea who Hades was. Trax hadn’t mentioned him. She shifted on her feet nervously, staring down at the floor. She watched as Kase’s hand reached behind him and grasped hers. With a tight squeeze, her body relaxed a bit.

A man she didn’t recognize came through the door flanked by two other men and wandered up to Kase. He appeared eerily familiar. She knew she hadn’t seen him before, but his features resembled someone. She just didn’t know who. He wore a similar cut as Trax, but his read Ghosttown Riders East.

“What’s going on?” He eyed Cheyenne and then turned his attention to Kase.

Kase lifted his chin toward the man by the bed. “Ron do a run for ya the day Mick was killed?”

She read the confusion in Hades. “Yeah, all day. Why?”

“Take his bike or a car?”

“Bike, man, always the bike.” He glanced around the room, his stare lingering on Saint. “What the fuck is going on?”

The man in question, Ron, lunged forward, pointing at her. “Bitch right there says it was me who took Mick out. Fucking lying whore.”

Hades shifted his glare over his shoulder. It clicked in her head, while all his other features weren’t familiar, his eyes were. When his brows tightened, she blinked and glanced up at Kase.

She shook her head and stammered. “Kase, I’m not lying. I saw him.” Her fingers dug into the back of his T-shirt. Kase’s hand reached back, grasping her hand and rubbing his thumb over her knuckles. He believes me. It was a silent confirmation.

Hades narrowed his eyes. “Mick got taken out by a car.”

She nodded and pointed. “And he was driving. He, um, had a black shirt, and his hair was tied back in a pink hair tie. I remember ’cause it made me laugh, some big burly guy with a bright pink hair tie, it just seemed funny at the time.” Her voice tapered off, and she bit her bottom lip.

Hades blinked, and his bottom lip fell open. He studied her face. Maybe he was searching for deception. He wouldn’t find it. This was definitely the man who’d killed Mick. She didn’t know what was happening, but he slowly turned to the man.

“He was late. Meeting up with Connors. Gotta call when he didn’t show thirty minutes after the meet time. Called him, said he hit traffic. Ten minutes later, he was there.”

Kase growled. “Sounds like enough time to take out Mick, return the car, and get back on the road.”

One of the men who had come in with Hades stepped forward. “Or he coulda been in traffic, asshole.”

Hades rested his hand across his chest, never taking his gaze off Ron. “But he wasn’t.” Hades stare turned into a menacing glare. “Why?”

“Hades, it wasn’t…”

“Shut the fuck up,” he snapped. “Man up and tell me why.”

He pointed to Cheyenne. “Bitch is lying.”

Hades slowly shook his head. “No, she ain’t. You and I know it. Tell me why.” His voice was eerily calm.
