“It’s going to explode,” Hallie said.

All eyes turned back to her, wide and panicked. “What?” Orly asked, putting a hand on Hallie’s arm.

“I don’t know when or why or anything like that. Only that it will,” Hallie explained.

Garrett, Tanner and Blake looked at her with shock, while Luke and Orly couldn’t stop glancing between her and Caden.

“What can we do to help?” Luke asked.

“Hold on just a second,” Tanner said.

“I’m confused,” Blake said.

“How do we know this?” Garrett asked.

Caden looked at Hallie and she gave him a soft smile, but he saw the determination in her eyes and nodded for her to continue.

Hallie took a deep breath, then spoke. “I can see glimpses of the future. I’ve been able to do it my whole life. The problem is, they’ve never been very useful. I never see more than a few seconds of whatever is going to happen. It’s scary and annoying, because I’ve never been able to stop it from occurring no matter how awful it was.” She paused, and Caden held his breath, wondering if she would tell his friends about her role in saving Blake’s life.

“It’s true,” Orly said. “We talked about it the night her shop windows were shattered.”

“Wait, you can see the future?” Tanner asked.

“But you’ve never been able to stop anything from happening?” Garrett asked.

“Until Blake,” Hallie finally said in a near whisper, but from his friends’ reactions, they’d all heard her.

Everyone was stunned into silence, their mouths slightly open in shock. “Me?” Blake asked.

Hallie nodded. “I didn’t actually see you in my glimpse. I saw a warrant with an address, and an open badge in a pool of blood. It had your name on it, and a photo, but the glimpse was over so fast, I didn’t get a clear image of you in my head. So, I had to Google your name to make sure my mind wasn’t playing tricks on me.” Hallie shook her head. “It never does, but I just couldn’t believe that for the first time in my life, I had the opportunity to actually help someone.”

“That’s why you sent in that tip to the FBI.” Blake’s tone was unreadable and he took a long draw of his beer.

Hallie nodded. “I was so worried about you. I wasn’t sure it would get read in time. And then they brought me in for questioning and that agent said you were alive. That only confirmed you’d been hurt. It wasn’t until Caden told me at the hospital that you were shot in the shoulder and would be okay that I knew what had happened.”

“At the hospital?” Blake asked, turning his attention to Caden.

“She was there when I came by to see you that last time.”

“I just had to know if you were really okay,” Hallie said.

The mood quickly changed from awestruck to somber as realization of Hallie’s gift settled in his friends’ minds. He knew it wasn’t an easy pill to swallow and having another woman in their group with paranormal abilities meant the guys would need to be extra careful about protecting them from outsiders who might want to go after them, or abuse them and their gifts.

“Can we get back to that church Blake recognized?” Garrett asked.

“Do your glimpses always come to fruition?” Tanner asked.

“How much time did you have between when you first got the glimpse and when I got shot?” Blake asked.

Hallie sat up closer to the table, showing Caden that she had this. “There’s no real time limit on my glimpses. It can happen hours, days, weeks or even months later. I saw the glass shattering at my store weeks before it happened. But that was all I saw. Glass shattering. It was like a zoomed in version of it. I had no idea where or when it was going to take place. And yes, they always happen. It’s just a matter of time.”

“How are we supposed to stop something from happening if we don’t know when it’s going to happen?” Garrett asked.

“We figure it out,” Luke said. “We’ve worked with far less before.” He turned to Hallie. “When did you get this glimpse?”

“About an hour ago,” Hallie said.

“And it plays on repeat, so she’s had it four times total.” Caden bit out.
