So even when he found he was getting close to the robbers, or rather, the tracking device on Black Tooth’s motorcycle, he backed off a little further to insure he was completely out of sight. He doubted that the three robbers would pick him out onthe road as being someone from the race last night, especially with as amped up as they would be on whatever drugs they were huffing plus the adrenaline of the robbery itself.

Still, better to be sure. Pony let the tracking device do the hard part. It seemed to be working well, so he let it work well and guide him to where he needed to be.

The trail led out of town, quite a bit, until there really wasn’t much but a small gas station sitting by the side of the road. About a mile past that, there was a dirt road, which the tracking device told him had been taken by the robbers.

He pulled his bike over and looked at the dirt road. According to the tracking device, the robbers were up that dirt road a short distance. Not moving.

This must be the place. But he couldn’t just ride up there. His Harley was a big, loud, attention grabbing machine and would give him away long before he could see the robbers.

He would have to go on foot.

Pony parked his Harley by the side of the road, taking off his helmet so that he would be able to see and hear more effectively. Then, it was up through the trees, staying off to the side of the dirt road, not on it.

In seconds, he was back in to the rhythm of blending in to the forest, a skill long since honed by his days in the Rangers. His movements were fluid, easy, going from cover to cover, pausing occasionally to listen carefully, look carefully, even smell carefully before moving on.

It didn’t take long before he saw it. A ramshackle cabin, that looked that it had been made mostly out of discarded garbage and duct tape. Either these idiots weren’t making much money with their bank robberies, or they were spending it on something other than home improvements.

There were three motorcycles out front, the same three that Pony had seen the robbers use today. He nodded to himself slowly, watching the cabin like a hawk.

“So this is your secret hideout,” he whispered to himself.

He stayed very still, watching, listening. For several minutes, nothing at all happened. He didn’t see a thing, which actually told him a few things.

Bikes parked. Robbers inside. Not bustling around, switching all their stolen money into another vehicle to take off and leave behind these bikes that were connected to the robbery. Like they should be doing.

Nope. These fools were entirely relying on nobody showing up, finding the vehicles, the helmets, the stolen money, the everything, right there at the cabin, with no way out but the dirt road.

So these guys really were amateurs. And they really were staying put, at least for a while.

Which gave him the opportunity to try to call it in again to the club. Pony got out his phone and called Wyatt, watching the cabin the entire time.

Technically, Boomer was in charge as the MC President, but Wyatt always handled a lot of the day to day details. Even more so since Boomer had been shot in a drive by all those weeks ago.

He was tough as nails, Boomer, but even he wasn’t back to one hundred percent. Not yet.

Maybe he never would be. One of the bullets had lodged in his spine. He was lucky he wasn’t completely paralyzed. Yes, Boomer still moved around in a wheelchair most of the time, but that was more from the pain and disability than from full paralysis. Given time, he could still recover.

The line answered, pulling Pony out of his thoughts.

“Wyatt?” he said, keeping his voice low.

“Yeah, Pony,” Wyatt said. “What’s going on?”

“You told me to go check out those street bike racers, right?”

“Yeah. Did you check them out?”

Pony said, “Yes, I did.”

“And was there anything sketchy going on that you could see?” Wyatt asked.

“You could say that,” Pony said, trying not to laugh as he said it. “Three of those guys were acting squirrely and said something that made it sound like they were up to something. So I tailed them.”

“And?”

“And they just fucking robbed a bank,” Pony said.

“No shit?”
