“Take your time, Tori. We’ll claim each other when you’re ready, not a moment sooner.”

“Promise?” I looked into his eyes, needing the reassurance that he’d wait for me.

“Absolutely. You’re worth waiting for, love.” And with those words, Ridge pressed his lips against mine in another kiss that left no doubt about his commitment to our future together.

Warmth spread through me at his understanding. “I can’t wait for that day.”

I pressed myself against Ridge, the heat of our bodies mingling together in the cool night air. My hands wandered across his broad shoulders, my fingers tracing the contours of his sculpted muscles before making their way up his neck.

“Hey, you,” I said, the words a sultry promise as I nuzzled against the spot on his neck where we would one day claim each other.

“Yeah?” His voice shook with desire, and I felt a thrill of power at having him so vulnerable, so eager for my touch.

“You said there’s no rush?”

“I meant it.” His breath hitched as I continued to tease him.

“Good.” My lips brushed against his skin. “Because I am going to make you wait for this.” Without warning, I ran my teeth gently over the sensitive flesh of his neck, eliciting a low growl from deep within his chest.

“Fuck,” he groaned, his hands gripping my hips tightly. “You’re making me crazy.”

“Am I?” I asked innocently, tilting my head back to look at him with big eyes.

“Absolutely,” he said, his own eyes darkened by lust. “But I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

I ran my fingers through his hair and tugged lightly. “I like knowing I affect you like this.”

“Trust me,” he breathed against my lips, his voice rough with passion. “The feeling is mutual.” As if to prove his point, he rocked his hips against mine, and I gasped at the contact.

“Maybe I should do this more often,” I said, my breath hot against his ear. “Keep you on your toes.”

“Please do. I love it when you’re in control.”

“Good to know,” I said, chuckling with affection for this strong, powerful man who was so willing to submit to me.

Chapter 26

Tori

I nipped him on the neck again.

“Nice try, Lassie,” Ridge said. “But you missed the mark.”

“Did I?” My voice was teasing as I hovered my lips just above Ridge’s neck, pretending to bite him. It was a game we’d been playing for a little while now. It drove him wild, and I enjoyed it.

“Come on, Tori. You know that won’t work on me.” His voice sounded strained. “You’ll have to do better than that.”

“Maybe I will.” I nipped at his earlobe, drawing out a growl from deep within him. I could feel how turned on he was, and damn if it didn’t make me feel powerful.

“Keep this up, and you’re going to be very sorry.” There was no real threat in his tone. If anything, it sounded like a promise.

“Promises, promises.” I grazed my teeth along his jawline.

His breathing hitched. I had him right where I wanted him.

“God, Tori, you have no idea what you do to me,” he groaned, grabbing my hips and pulling me flush against him. The heat from his body was intoxicating, making my wolf keen in satisfaction.

“Maybe I do.” I pressed a kiss to the corner of his mouth. “Maybe I want to see just how far I can push you before you break.”
