Kiana turned her back to him.

Dev’s hands came over her head as he dropped a necklace with a pendant around her neck and hooked it in the back. Then he kissed the nape of her neck. “Just in case we get separated, that’s a tracking device. As long as you’re wearing it, we can find you.”

She spun to face him, her eyes wide. “I’m not planning on getting separated from you or your team.”

He cupped her chin and smiled down at her. “You never know what could happen. Just wear it tucked beneath your shirt.”

She slid the pendent beneath her blouse, the cold metal chilling her skin at the same time as it warmed her heart. He cared about her, or he wouldn’t be worried enough to tag her with a tracking device.

Dev pulled her into his arms and held her as the van navigated the streets of Honolulu, following Silas’s tracker.

Kiana was thankful for Dev’s strength. He held her up when she was overwhelmed with emotion and nerves.

She really needed to thank Carl for walking out on her and stealing her money. Had he not been such a bastard, Kiana might not have seen Dev for what he was.

A true gentleman. A real man who knew how to treat a woman. Hell, who knew how to treat another person. He cared about her, Meredith and, though he’d pounded on Silas, he’d promised to take care of the man’s family.

Kiana bet Dev would look out for Silas at the drug exchange that night, if at all possible. He was a good man. A man she could see herself spending a lot of time with. Maybe even the rest of her life.

Wow. She was getting way ahead of herself.

One step at a time.

First, they had to find Meredith.

“Silas stopped,” George said.

Dev’s arms stiffened around Kiana. “How far are we from him?”

“Half a mile,” Hawk said.

In the van’s driver’s seat, Logan pulled into a side road and parked against the curb, engine running.

“Rocko will be checking that all the gang showed and then giving them the location of the exchange,” Hawk said, his gaze on the screen of the tracking device George held in his hand.

“They still have half an hour before they’re due to meet,” Dev noted.

“They’re moving again,” George said, his voice tight.

Hawk spoke into his headset, updating the other Brotherhood Protectors and the group of men from Navy SEAL Team One. “They’re moving toward the Port of Honolulu.”

When Silas stopped again, Logan pulled the van into an alley half a mile from Silas’s location.

The men adjusted their vests, patted their extra magazines of ammunition and double-checked their weapons.

George handed Dev a small handheld tracking device. “It’s programmed to give you Silas’s location.”

Dev nodded and tucked the device into his jacket pocket.

Kiana settled her headset over her ears.

“Game time,” Hawk said. “Team BroPro, moving in from the southeast.”

“ST1 approaching from the northwest. Spotted one of Honolulu’s finest.” The SEAL reported the street corner. “Arranging a show for them.”

“You heard the man,” Hawk said. “It’s not just Demons we have to be wary of. Remember, we’re not in the sandbox. This isn’t Iraq. It’s fuckin Honolulu. If you have to shoot, shoot to wound, if at all possible. Not to kill. Got it?”

The men all nodded and gave a muted, “Yes, sir.”
